Michael Elgin and Lucha Libre Elite title[edit]

Hi MPJ. I have a question. I see NJPW and I wondered why Michael Elgin doesn't appear with the Lucha Libre Elite World Championship (the white and clean title). I asked one friend of mine, a lucha libre fan why Elgin doesn't defend the title. So, he told me the Lucha Libre Elite Campeonato Mundial wasn't a title, just a tournament. The belt is the award for winning the tournament, but is not an active championship (Like when Hulk Hogan was awarded with a title belt in NJPW early days). Can you confirm this? --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 12:51, 2 January 2017 (UTC)

First of all thanks for the support on the good topic. Second can you help with creating the complete talk page of the book for it? NWA Canadian Heavyweight Championship[edit]

If you are going to update the NWA Canadian Heavyweight Championship, do it right. You didn't completely update the infobox. You didn't change the date in the infobox, you didn't update the title history, and you didn't update the reigns lists. Don't just half ass it. Topic[edit]

Well hello there MPJ. Long time, no talk and well see either. Yeah, I was working on that topic. I come on here every once in a while to work on stuff. This place used to be where I went to relax but not so much anymore. It became stressful so I have to set aside time to work on here which is impossible with my schedule anymore. The adult life sucks. The topic is right here. I'd be happy to help out if I have the time. I've went a little crazy and I'm a Triple Major in Economics, Paralegal Science, and Political Science along with trying to get Minors in Math, Business, and Statistics. I'm trying to go to Vanderbilt's PhD in Law and Economics. My free time is limited. I'm doing 2 statistics courses, 2 math courses, and I'm learning French and Latin. I'll see what I can do though.--WillC 23:26, 27 February 2017 (UTC)

I'd be happy to give an opinion. I always left those two till last just because of the bullshit history going to be a headache. The championship articles would probably be easier compared to the lists. The lists are just gonna be annoying to deal with I'm sure.--WillC 01:09, 28 February 2017 (UTC)
It looks good. I'll look over it later and let you know.--WillC 00:18, 20 March 2017 (UTC)

March 2017 WikiCup newsletter[edit]

And so ends the first round of the competition, with 4 points required to qualify for round 2. It would have been 5 points, but when a late entrant was permitted to join the contest in February, a promise was made that his inclusion would not result in the exclusion of any other competitor. To achieve this, the six entrants that had the lowest positive score of 4 points have been added to the 64 people who otherwise would have qualified. As a result, some of the groups have nine contestants rather than eight. Our top four scorers in round 1 were:

  • Scotland Cas Liber, last year's winner, led the field with two featured articles on birds and a total score of 674.
  • European Union Iry-Hor, a WikiCup newcomer, came next with a featured article, a good article and a tally of 282 bonus points for a score of 517. All these points came from the article Nyuserre Ini, an Ancient Egyptian pharaoh,
  • Japan 1989, another WikiCup newcomer, was in joint third place at 240. 1989 has claimed points for two featured lists and one good article relating to anime and comedy series, all of which were awarded bonus points.
  • South Australia Peacemaker67 shared third place with five good articles and thirteen good article reviews, mostly on naval vessels. He is also new to the competition.

The largest number of DYKs have been submitted by Vivvt and The C of E, who each claimed for seven, and MBlaze Lightning achieved eight articles at ITN. Carbrera and Peacemaker67 each claimed for five GAs and Krishna Chaitanya Velaga was well out in front for GARs, having reviewed 32. No featured pictures, featured topics or good topics yet, but we have achieved three featured articles and a splendid total of fifty good articles.

So, on to the second round. Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 1 but before the start of round 2 can be claimed in round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points equally.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is a good article candidate, a featured process, or anything else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. NWA Mid-America championship[edit]

I apologize for editing mistakes, I am new to Wiki. I am the promoter for NWA Supreme and we have legal right through the National Wrestling Alliance to The NWA Mid America Championship. We have even had past champions (Dutch Mantell, Bill Dundee, and Rip Rodgers) present the championship to winners of the current belt, to these men, who held this championship they feel the linage is still there.

I would appreciate advice on how to site references to title changes, as they are on NWA ringside as they happen, but from week to week that information is changed. The NWA is working on a site in the mean time that will document such changes so that we will be able have that as a reference. I meant no disrespect by any changes that were made earlier. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2605:A000:8043:AD00:ECC6:990E:A681:B48F (talk) 22:58, 9 April 2017 (UTC)

I do not appreciate the insults[edit]

Show some damn respect. Just because you believe you have a better case than another editor (which is perfectly fine, obviously, and you've given an explanation as to why you have that better case) does not mean you should mock that editor as you did on my talk page with regards to the Matt Hardy article. You talk about which one of us is trying to make Wikipedia better? Clearly it's not you and your self righteous attitude. Outside of this comment I am not going to argue with you further about this because there's no point, but in the future just think about how you handle a situation like this, there's no need to be so hostile.Mogomaniac (talk) 19:04, 13 April 2017 (UTC)

Interviews[edit]

Hi, MPJ. Yesterday I made an interview with Demus 3 16. Maybe you can find something interesting for his article. I usualy make interviews with luchadores so, If you want, you can sugest me questions to improve Wikipedia. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 12:17, 21 April 2017 (UTC)

Re: Requested move 25 April 2017[edit]

Hi MPJ-DK, thank you for voting in the Sara Del Rey talk page (even though you opposed it), but you totally missed my point. Matt Bloom was best known as "Albert" and yet his page is named after his real name presumably because it's what he's being currently referred to. I don't know if I could add this to that talk page to support my argument, so I figured to leave you a message instead. Hopefully, this clarifies my point. Thank you for at least hearing me out. - 124.106.206.103 (talk) 10:18, 27 April 2017 (UTC)

Fair enough. Thanks anyway for voting; at least you took the time to voice out your take on this and I appreciate your gesture and respect you for that. In addition, if you think I'm allowed to add my previous message above to the Sara Del Rey talk page to clarify my point, kindly let me know. Thanks. - 124.106.206.103 (talk) 11:42, 27 April 2017 (UTC)
I just reread your reply, and I see that you actually disagree with the Matt Bloom name as well; interesting. Maybe you could make a move on that and voice out your argument on that as well, as while I also disagree with that argument, you do deserve to bring that up to the table to show uniformity in this site. All the best. - 124.106.206.103 (talk) 11:47, 27 April 2017 (UTC)

Goya-Carta[edit]

No mention on Goya article about Carta, and vice versa... GiantSnowman 11:56, 1 May 2017 (UTC)

No, it means we require reliable sources to verify claims, especially about living people... GiantSnowman 11:59, 1 May 2017 (UTC)
Yes it was. If something is not listed and/or sourced, it shouldn't be included. There is (currently) no indication as to why Carta should appera next to Goya on the family tree. GiantSnowman 12:02, 1 May 2017 (UTC)
What on earth are you on about? Does anywhere on Wikipedia confirm what you are claiming? No? Then the information gets removed. That is basic stuff, you should know better. It might just be easier if you found a source and added it, to avoid future issues... GiantSnowman 12:19, 1 May 2017 (UTC)
Yes, please tell me more about how WP:WIKIPEDIAISNOTARELIABLESOURCE, which I was not taking about. Where does it say on either article (referenced to a reliable source) that Goya and Carta have a child together? Oh, nowhere?! GiantSnowman 14:03, 1 May 2017 (UTC)

May 2017 WikiCup newsletter[edit]

The second round of the competition has now closed, with just under 100 points being required to qualify for round 3. YellowEvan just scraped into the next round with 98 points but we have to say goodbye to the thirty or so competitors who didn't achieve this threshold; thank you for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia. Our top scorers in round 2 were:

  • Scotland Cas Liber, led the field with five featured articles, four on birds and one on astronomy, and a total score of 2049, half of which came from bonus points.
  • Japan 1989 was in second place with 826 points, 466 of which were bonus points. 1989 has claimed points mostly relating to anime and Japanese-related articles.
  • South Australia Peacemaker67 took third place with two FAs, one GA and seven GARs, mostly on naval vessels or military personnel, scoring 543 points.
  • Other contestants who scored over 400 points were Freikorp, Carbrera, and Czar. Of course all these points are now wiped out and the 32 remaining contestants start again from zero in round 3.

Vivvt submitted the largest number of DYKs (30), and MBlaze Lightning achieved 13 articles at ITN. Carbrera claimed for 11 GAs and Argento Surfer performed the most GARs, having reviewed 11. So far we have achieved 38 featured articles and a splendid 132 good articles. Commendably, 279 GARs have been achieved so far, more than double the number of GAs.

So, on to the third round. Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 2 but before the start of round 3 can be claimed in round 3. Remember too that you must claim your points within 10 days of "earning" them. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points equally.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Advice for AFC submissions[edit]

Hi MPJ-DK. I've seen from the main WP:PW page that you've written a lot of FA/GA class championship articles and was hoping I could get some advice. I submitted two articles to WP:AFC last summer - Draft:NWA City of Mobile Heavyweight Championship and Draft:NWA Columbus Heavyweight Championship - which were turned down because of the sources I used. I don't understand why they were rejected especially as I used the same references for the Columbus title to create the NWA Macon championships. Is there someone from your project who might be interested in looking them over to see what I did wrong? Thanks. 72.74.199.118 (talk) 13:45, 16 May 2017 (UTC)

Thanks, I'd be glad for any extra help. I haven't found much newspaper coverage outside of the clippings from the GCCW History website. Looking over WP:RS, is there a case to be made for either GeorgiaWrestlingHistory.com or KayfabeMemories.com?
Would Rich Tate (GWH's co-founder) be considered a "recognized expert"? He was a contributor for KayfabeMemories.com (which has a lot of notable wrestling personalities as guest columnists) and co-hosted the Peach State Pandemonium podcast with Les Thatcher a few years ago. The website was used by Bill Watts' book "The Cowboy and the Cross" and called it "a treasure trove of history" (pg. vi). It's also cited as a reference for multiple pro wrestling books.
I'm not sure if this makes a difference either but KayfabeMemories.com has a lot of praise from people in the industry (according to their website anyway: [8] [9]). It was featured on Jim Cornette's podcast this year too. [10] 72.74.199.118 (talk) 19:54, 16 May 2017 (UTC)

Clean-up[edit]

Hi MPJ, when we discussed the sourcing problems, my understanding is that you would devote yourself to a clean-up of the promoted articles, and because you were willing to do that, there was no need to take it further. Speed is not an issue—it's better to do it slowly and get it right—but it does need your singular focus, rather than WikiCup or preparing any other articles for promotion. SarahSV (talk) 22:12, 5 June 2017 (UTC)

I totally agree, clean up first and foremost. I am going to handle it in 3 steps 1) eliminate certain sources and replace with something that is easier to verify 2) rework the book sources and 3) tackle foreign language web sources. I am not afraid of room ng up my sleeves and yes I agree on holding off on new nominations or wikicup work,  MPJ-DK  23:06, 5 June 2017 (UTC)
I've copied your reply here so that this is in one place. Thanks for agreeing to focus on this. I was concerned that you didn't reply to the query about the book. That felt like déjà vu, so can you deal with that now, please? The source and page range was in 49 articles when I last checked. The source that seems not to exist is also still in several.
It's worth preparing yourself that your FAs may end up at FAR. That's not something I plan on doing, because there's a limit to how much time I want to spend on Mexican wrestling. But someone else may nominate them, so if you can get a headstart on the clean-up, that will be in your interests. And again, speed wouldn't be helpful. What's needed is attention to detail, and as you're interested in the topic, you're the best person to do this. SarahSV (talk) 23:17, 5 June 2017 (UTC)
It's probably fair to say that I'm one of the few people who want to spend oceans of time on Mexican wrestling ;-) I have already hit some of the articles with some improvements and more to come. I will take care of the Mondo Lucha Libre source first though since it's a easy replacement to make.  MPJ-DK  23:31, 5 June 2017 (UTC)
Okay, that's great, and thanks for doing it. The wrestling is an acquired taste, but at least I do now know something about it! SarahSV (talk) 05:22, 6 June 2017 (UTC)

WikiCup 2017 July newsletter[edit]

The third round of the competition has finished in a flurry of last minute activity, with 288 points being required to qualify for round 4. It was a hotly competitive round with all but four of the contestants exceeding the 106 points that was necessary to proceed to round 4 last year. Coemgenus and Freikorp tied on 288, and both have been allowed to proceed, so round 4 now has one pool of eight competitors and one of nine.

Round 3 saw the achievement of a 26-topic Featured topic by MPJ-DK as well as 5 featured lists and 13 featured articles. PanagiotisZois and SounderBruce achieved their first ever featured articles. Carbrera led the GA score with 10, Tachs achieved 17 DYKs and MBlaze Lightning 10 In the news items. There were 167 DYKs, 93 GARs and 82 GAs overall, this last figure being higher than the number of GAs in round 2, when twice as many people were taking part. Even though contestants performed more GARs than they achieved GAs, there was still some frustration at the length of time taken to get articles reviewed.

As we start round 4, we say goodbye to the fifteen or so competitors who didn't quite make it; thank you for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia. Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 3 but before the start of round 4 can be claimed in round 4. Remember too that you must claim your points within 10 days of "earning" them (some people have fallen foul of this rule and the points have been removed).

Goldberg's refusal to wrestle in Germany in 2000 WCW[edit]

I find it sad that someone who has as much knowledge as you do when it comes to wrestling, cannot really recall this incident that was reported on just about every Wrestling website in November 2000. Unfortunately I cannot find any non-archived articles. However, when nearly half a dozen people talk about this subject in November 2000 on a message forum, not to mention German fans claiming that it was big news in Germany years later, are we all to be disbelieved? So We ahve over a dozen different people commenting on it on one side, and you are insistent that it never happened. From your writings you strike me as the kind of person who will never admit to being wrong, so if you want to "report" me go ahead. I think history is important. You value being right over historical accuracy.

Round 4 of the WikiCup has ended and we move forward into the final round. In round 4, a total of 12 FAs, 3 FLs, 44 GAs, 3 FLs, 79 DYKs, 1 ITN and 42 GARs was achieved, with no FPs or FTs this time. Congratulations to Peacemaker67 on the Royal Yugoslav Navy Good Topic of 36 items, and the 12 featured articles achieved by Cas Liber (5), Vanamonde93 (3), Peacemaker67 (2), Adityavagarwal (1) and 12george1 (1). With a FA scoring 200 points, and bonus points available on top of this, FAs are likely to feature heavily in the final round. Meanwhile Yellow Evan, a typhoon specialist, was contributing 12 DYKs and 10 GAs, while Adityavagarwal and Freikorp topped the GAR list with 8 reviews each. As we enter the final round, we are down to eight contestants, and we would like to thank those of you who have been eliminated for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia. The lowest score needed to reach round 5 was 305, and I think we can expect a highly competitive final round.

Talk:Místico II/GA1[edit]

MPJ-DK, I have posted my concerns about the GA review of your nomination to the review page, and requested that the finalization of the review be reversed until the broadness criteria have been met—it seemed improbable at the time that it had been, since it stopped in early 2015, and it's currently late 2017. (Even if the wrestler had formally retired, suffered a career-ending injury, or just stopped appearing in the ring, there should have been something in the article to address the intervening years.)

Since I posted that, I found this source, which shows another two dozen bouts since March 2015, over half of the wrestler's bouts as that character. I think it's clear that the article is missing a large chunk of the wrestler's career—it certainly doesn't go through to the present day, as the section header would indicate—and as such it isn't ready to be a GA until the material is added.

This can be handled two ways: the GA listed can be reverted and the review resumed, while you add the material that will bring the article up to date, or a good article reassessment can be opened. I haven't heard back from the reviewer as yet though they have edited since the ping; if you have a preference, you might want to chime up on the review page.

There are some places where the prose can be tightened, though it's generally quite readable. I have no doubt that this can meet the full GA criteria with some additional work. BlueMoonset (talk) 21:16, 24 October 2017 (UTC)

The article Dr. Wagner Jr. you nominated as a good article has failed ; see Talk:Dr. Wagner Jr. for reasons why the nomination failed. Dr. Wagner Jr GA nom[edit]

It's a shame you withdrew the nom of Dr. Wagner Jr after someone had spent the time reviewing it, rather than just asking for help on the GA talk page, or for someone uninvolved to step in to try and resolve the issues. If you have any other articles in the GA queue (I haven't checked) that you haven't time for right now, it may be good to see if anyone else wants to pick it up instead? Bungle (talkcontribs) 18:53, 11 November 2017 (UTC)

MPJ-DK, I have reverted the withdrawal since it was done by removing the GA nominee template entirely, a step that is not allowed once the review has begun unless it is replaced with a FailedGA template. I can understand withdrawing the other, as-yet-unreviewed GA nominations you'd made, and given the extreme backlog, I think that's probably a better choice than leaving them there as Bungle suggests. However, given the tenor of the review, it seems like the work needed is not major; it seems a shame that you don't wish to pursue it any further after Harrias has taken the time to look at a very old nomination despite not having a great deal of knowledge in the area—in some ways, it's quite helpful to get someone unfamiliar with a subject area who is likely to spot technical terms and other jargon, and ask for modifications so anyone can understand what's going on. WikiCup 2018[edit]

So the 2017 WikiCup has come to an end. Congratulations to the winner, to the other finalists and to all those who took part. 177 contestants signed up, more than usual, but not all of them submitted entries in the first round. Were editors attracted by the cash prizes offered for the first time this year, or were these irrelevant? Do the rules and scoring need changing for the 2018 WikiCup? If you have a view on these or other matters, why not join in the WikiCup discussion about next year's contest? WikiCup 2018 March newsletter[edit]

And so ends the first round of the competition, with 4 points required to qualify for round 2. With 53 contestants qualifying, the groups for round 2 are slightly smaller than usual, with the two leaders from each group due to qualify for round 3 as well as the top sixteen remaining users.

Our top scorers in round 1 were:

  • United States Aoba47 led the field with a featured article, 8 good articles and 42 GARs, giving a total of 666 points.
  • Germany FrB.TG , a WikiCup newcomer, came next with 600 points, gained from a featured article and masses of bonus points.
  • India Ssven2, another WikiCup newcomer, was in third place with 403 points, garnered from a featured article, a featured list, a good article and twelve GARs.
  • United States Ceranthor, India Numerounovedant, Minnesota Carbrera, Netherlands Farang Rak Tham and Romania Cartoon network freak all had over 200 points, but like all the other contestants, now have to start again from scratch. A good achievement was the 193 GARs performed by WikiCup contestants, comparing very favourably with the 54 GAs they achieved.

Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 1 but before the start of round 2 can be claimed in round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews.

If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! CMLL World Tag Team Titles[edit]

Hey MPJ-DK, yes Mike Lozansky was notable in UWA in Mexico as Tiger Canadiense, Mike Anthony in USWA, was a two time tag team champion and was a low card wrestler in ECW form 1998-1999.

In regard to this comment[edit]

WikiCup 2018 May newsletter[edit]

The second round of the 2018 WikiCup has now finished. Most contestants who advanced to the next round scored upwards of 100 points, but two with just 10 points managed to scrape through into round 3. Our top scorers in the last round were:

  • Scotland Cas Liber, our winner in 2016, with three featured articles
  • Republic of Texas Iazyges, with nine good articles and lots of bonus points
  • India Yashthepunisher, a first time contestant, with two featured lists
  • Cascadia (independence movement) SounderBruce, a finalist last year, with seventeen good topic articles
  • United States Usernameunique, a first time contestant, with fourteen DYKs
  • San Francisco Muboshgu, a seasoned competitor, with three ITNs and
  • South Carolina Courcelles, another first time contestant, with twenty-seven GARs

So far contestants have achieved twelve featured articles between them and a splendid 124 good articles. Commendably, 326 GARs have been completed during the course of the 2018 WikiCup, so the backlog of articles awaiting GA review has been reduced as a result of contestants' activities. As we enter the third round, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 2 but before the start of round 3 can be claimed in round 3. Remember too that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them. When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met; most of the GARs are fine, but a few have been a bit skimpy.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! WikiCup 2018 July newsletter[edit]

The third round of the 2018 WikiCup has now come to an end. The 16 users who made it to the fourth round had at least 227 points. Our top scorers in round 3 were:

  • South Carolina Courcelles, a first time contestant, with 1756 points, a tally built largely on 27 GAs related to the Olympics
  • Scotland Cas Liber, our winner in 2016, with two featured articles and three GAs on natural history and astronomy topics
  • Cascadia (independence movement) SounderBruce, a finalist last year, with a variety of submissions related to transport in the state of Washington

Contestants managed 7 featured articles, 4 featured lists, 120 good articles, 1 good topic, 124 DYK entries, 15 ITN entries, and 132 good article reviews. Over the course of the competition, contestants have completed 458 GA reviews, in comparison to 244 good articles submitted for review and promoted. As we enter the fourth round, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 3 but before the start of round 4 can be claimed in round 4. Please also remember that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them. When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met. Please also remember that all submissions must meet core Wikipedia policies, regardless of the review process; several submissions, particularly in abstruse or technical areas, have needed additional work to make them completely verifiable.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). wrestling persona[edit]

Hi. How are you? Can you make me a favor? These days I created the Wrestling persona and Style for some wrestlers, like Angle, Sabu and Vader. However, I think they are pretty shitty since I don't control English in these kind of text. Can you review and improve the sections, so I can use them as guide for other wrestlers? --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 17:46, 3 July 2018 (UTC)

Great. Thanks. I'm gonna try to write some sections for legends, like Austin, Savage... For me, it's easier than current wrestlers --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 13:36, 5 July 2018 (UTC)
