Manifesto[edit]

Myth

“Myths are clues to the spiritual potentialities of the human life”
-Joseph Campbell

Since the dawn of mankind, we as humans have strived to understand and explain the ethos of our world. From the first scratches on a dark, damp cave to the religious texts of spirituality, people have conversed with God and beseeched muses to pour forth the song of life through myth. This tradition has been all but lost. For once the seat of honour was saved for the storyteller, who would weave a tale that se the cosmos in order. Today, that task has been handed to the artist. May we rise with the mantel of myth, not as merchants with gold in our eyes, but as priests and shamans, holding sacred the power to forever change lives through story.

Inspire

“What will happen when the secret corners of the forest are heavy with the scent of many men and the view of the ripe hills is blotted by talking wires? Where will the thicket be? Gone! Where will the eagle be? Gone! And what is it to say goodbye to the swift pony and the hunt? The end of living and the beginning of survival.”
-Chief Seattle when asked to sell his land to the US Government.

“Our great war is a spiritual war, our great depression is our lives.”
-Tyler Durdan

What would it take to follow one’s bliss? For too long we’ve been manufactured to become mindless consumers, living steadily off a diet of prefabricated mediocrity. Where are those brave souls who follow their passion, risking all for the sacrifice of love to something bigger than themselves. May we never lose sight of what really matters, forsaking what we are told to hold dear and venturing to find that which makes us whole. May we love freely as we create freely, with family and friends, through pain and laughter. May we stay true to ourselves and that which has been put inside us, that we might inspire other to follow their own bliss, to find real life in the good, the true and the beautiful.

Story

“Are you up to your destiny?”
-Hamlet

Story is a craft that is to be honed. To look across the landscape today, one may find otherwise. The art of story has fallen from the revered language of God to the clichéd language of corporations. What would it take to reclaim story, to make it our own. Not to further commercial or political or religious gain, but to further our pursuit of truth and beauty. To understand love and death, forgivness and hate. To unravel the mysteries of the universe. We’ve been told through physical science that we are nothing more than “predictable patterns of wires responding to stimuli”. The old story has been lost, and we have not yet learned a new. May we become craftsmen of story, in pursuit of finding our own new story.

Epilogos

We seek not consumers, those who take and contribute nothing into the world. We pray to find advocates along this road, with whom we may conspire and dream. Allies with whom we may fight against mediocrity and fight for beauty and honor. We pursue that which may one day become lost. This is our sacred duty, for we are all storytellers, every one of us.

“Myth must be kept alive. The people who can keep it alive are artists of one kind or another. The function of the artist is the mytholiogization of the environment and the world.”
-Joseph Campbell
