                   Rayappapuram Seval was founded in 1880 by A. Rayappa Nadar (35 ages) who came from Malabar with his five children. 1890 he put up a church with palm leaves. On 17.03.1982 Fr. Cruz Marian constructed a church. On 16.09.2005 Fr. John Bosco laid foundation for a new church building on the existing one as it was very badly damaged and collapsed. This was blessed by Bishop Yvon on 02.02.2009. St. Peter’s Primary school came to exist because of the vision of Mathavadian Nadar, s/o Rayappa Nadar on 05.01.1948. It is now under the management of Tuticorin Catholic Diocesan Association. Viyagula Marian is the present Head Master of this school. S. Jebamalai Raj is the village head. There is a common cemetery for this village.
