Gundam Mk-II

Concept and Pre-Production

During the pre-production phase of Zeta Gundam, the Gundam Mark-II underwent a series of designs and redesigns by the mechanical design crew of Kunio Okawara, Kazumi Fujita, Makoto Kobayashi, and Mamoru Nagano. Many of these designs varied significantly from the final design, many of which beared little to no aesthetic resemblance to a Gundam as it is defined today. Their designs eventually moved towards the typical accepted Gundam aesthetic -- a v-shaped antenna, a pair of eyes, and a red chin -- and Okawara, Fujita, and Nagano collaborated on the final design used in the series.
