She was brought up by her grandparents from infancy under strict disciplinarianship in an orthodox family background. She completed her schooling from Calcutta Girls High School, Graduation from Lady Brabourne College and later Masters in Mathematics from Calcutta University with PGDCA in computers. Her ancestral surname ” Shovakar ” comes from her ancestors who were court poets of King Ballal Sen.of Bengal. Her maternal ancestors Lt.Manmathanath Chakrabarty first founded the art in Kolkata college and ran it privately. This college now stands as Indian Art College affiliated to Rabindrabharati University. A quiet and lone child , she was always submerged in creation of painting, stories or poems from her childhood, drawing her thoughts from Nature or the Infinite sky. Her talent clicked at the age of three when she started re I ting reciting in ” Sishumahal ” program me at Akashvani .At the age of five she received her first prize in a local painting competition whereby the family thought to train her up under a proper guidance. The search ended when she was blessed under the expert guidance of Art Maestro Lt.Shri Gopinath Das.
