ਸੇਥੀ(Jat gotra)- different from ਸੇਠੀ(Hindu caste) although both are spelled as Sethi in english language]Also known by names(Seti/Sathi/Satti/Sathiala),Sethi is jat gotra majority of which resides in Sathiala village of Amritsar district. Village History: The village Sathiala was earlier called "Sethi-Aala Kalan"(ਸੇਥੀ ਅਾਲਾ ਕਲਾਂ) before the 1947 Indo-Pak war. The war destroyed the village severely due to which the residents were forced to leave the village and migrate to different parts of India and neighbouring countries. Previously known as "Sethi-Aala", it was renamed "Sathi-aala" to honor a Hindu devotee, Sathi, who cared for Guru Nanak and his companions. It was renamed after the village began to rise over the aftermaths of 1947 war. Later the name was changed to Sathiala.During the Sikh Confederacy, Sathiala was located in the territory of the Sikh Principality Ahluvalia Misl. In 1808 Ahluvalias Misl and another Sikh Principality, Ramgarhias Misl, were involved in a bloody conflict known as"The Battle of phal.
