History

[edit]

Background

[edit]

In December 2020, LiveMode mediated the broadcast of the match between Vasco da Gama and Athletico Paranaense from the 2020 Brasileirão on the Twitch of streamer Casimiro, through paid access.[3][4] In January 2021, also for the 2020 Brasileirão, the streamer broadcast the matches of Athletico against Flamengo and against SC Internacional.[5][6]

The partnership continued through 2021 Brasileirão, and Casimiro Miguel’s Twitch channel broadcast the home matches of Athletico Paranaense against Internacional and Red Bull Bragantino.[7][8]

In January 2022, streamer Casimiro announced that he would be broadcasting sports events on his Twitch channel more permanently. Early on, he secured a partnership to broadcast the matches of the Campeonato Carioca de Futebol.[9] In April, he also broadcast all 18 of Athletico Paranaense’s home games in the 2022 Brasileirão through paid access.[10]

2022 FIFA World Cup

[edit]

In November 2022, LiveMode mediated an agreement with FIFA for the 2022 World Cup to be broadcast by Casimiro.[11] Casimiro and LiveMode then announced the creation of a new YouTube channel, called CazéTV, to broadcast 22 matches from the competition.[12] CazéTV's programming during the World Cup was also broadcast simultaneously via Casimiro's Twitch channel and the first match, between Qatar and Ecuador in the World Cup opening, had approximately 1 million simultaneous viewers.[13][14] Brazil's group stage first match against Serbia reached 3.5 million, while the Round of 16 match against South Korea reached 5.3 million.[15] Brazil's final match at the World Cup peaked at 6.9 million simultaneous views. The number of views was also high.[16]

Campeonato Carioca 2023 e FIFA Club World Cup

[edit]

In January 2023, the channel acquired the broadcasting rights for the home games of Botafogo and Vasco da Gama in the group stage of the 2023 Campeonato Carioca.[17] Additionally, it acquired the digital media broadcasting rights for the seven matches of the 2022 FIFA Club World Cup.[18] It also broadcast the Vasco games during the Florida Tour 2023.[19]

On February 7, it was announced that the broadcast of Athletico Paranaense home games in the Brasileirão would be renewed. However, unlike other tournaments, these games would be restricted to channel members, since in 2022 – when they were still broadcast only on Twitch –, the matches were shown only to the channel's subscribers on the platform.[20]

Partnership with Brazilian Olympic Committee

[edit]

On the 11th of the same month, the channel signed an agreement with the Brazilian Olympic Committee to produce content for Team Brazil during the 2023 Pan American Games and the 2024 Summer Olympics.[21] On May 24th, it was announced that the channel would be covering the Pan American Games.[22]

2023 FIFA Women's World Cup

[edit]

After the success of the broadcasts of the men's edition held in Qatar, on March 21, 2023, during a publicity event with Google, it was announced that the channel would broadcast the 2023 Women's World Cup matches directly from Australia and New Zealand, being the first women's soccer tournament to be broadcast on the platform.[23][24]

2024 Summer Olympics

[edit]

During the broadcasts of the 2023 Pan American Games on November 2nd, the channel announced that it would broadcast the 2024 Summer Olympics, dedicating 500 hours of live transmission.[25]

Other UEFA Tournaments

[edit]

On July 1st, 2024, it officially announced that it would broadcast the UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Conference League for three seasons, starting in 2024-25.[26]
