User:Mardus/Mobile phone telecommunications generations

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This article is a partial restoration and evolution of Template:Wireless Systems (the current version of which is a redirect; the link is to an edition from article history).

While fractional generations are informal, they are important in helping non-technical people understand the differences between standards and generations (2G, 3G, et al.) and in getting a better grasp of how different fractional mobile communications generations (3.5G, 3.75G, etc.) wrt mobile phones correlate to different standards that have been applied, because Template:Cellular network standards is not as specific as it should be.

The article is a work in progress and therefore belongs to my userspace until it's ready.

It should work as a template without being named as such (as in Template:... in its name), as I have plans to include more information that in and of itself may be beyound the scope of template functionality, while not matching the criteria for template documentation. The template is probably still searchable on Wikipedia and from general purpose search engines. The plan is to eventually make the article into a working template.
