Background:
[edit]Kim Victoria Abeles, born on August 28, 1952 in Richmond Heights, Missouri. She also spent most of her childhood in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and currently lives in Los Angeles. Kim Abeles is an American artist who shares her activism on social and political nature in her work. Her work also shines light and the importance on femininity.[1]
Education:
[edit]Kim Abeles graduated and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree from Ohio University and also received her Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree from the University of California, Irvine in 1980.[2]
Work:
[edit]Kim Victoria Abeles moved to Los Angeles in 1978, where she found what influenced her work. She found interest on how Los Angeles was so smoggy and from understanding and witnessing the changes within the city, Kim Abeles found her idea of the Smog Collector.[3] Her work is mostly from experimenting with different materials and testing out any of her ideas when it comes to experimenting with her urban experience.[4]
