Martin G Haigh is the founding partner of independent estate agency Haigh & Sons, a family-run real estate business based in Westbury Park, Bristol. Martin decided to start Haigh & Sons in 1993 having worked for his parents' estate agency North Western Estates from 1980 until his father, Lyn's decision to retire in 1991. He worked for the new owners of the business for a year, then, when it became clear they were merely trying to use the hitherto successful estate agency as a way to stave off bankruptcy, he joined another local estate agency for a period of six to nine months. This didn't work out terribly well, so in 1993 he decided to open his own estate agency and Lyn agreed to come out of retirement to help get it off the ground.
