Jana Šantavá

Jana Šantavá (born 1978, Bratislava) is a prominent Slovak photographer known for her distinctive style that emphasizes visual minimalism, vibrant colors, and clean lines, contrasted with a strong emotional resonance. Her work primarily explores the inner experiences of women, transcending the boundaries of prejudice through consistent self-determination.

Education

Šantavá pursued her education in Bratislava, starting with the ŠÚV Josefa Vydru, followed by studies in Photography and New Media at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design (VŠVU).

Career

Since completing her studies, Šantavá has been actively engaged in photography, dedicating herself to her artistic expression starting in 2020. She has earned numerous prestigious awards, including winning the Slovak PRESS Photo - Bratislava Grant 2020, first place in the Bifa 2023 portfolio category, and first place in both the 3xP and World Photo Annual 2023.

Her photographs have been featured in exhibitions abroad, including "Just Women 2022" in Milan and "Just Women 2023" in Paris. She has also held solo exhibitions at the Central European House of Photography in Bratislava.
