Mathur Madhabhai Savani is a businessman and social activist from Gujarat, India. He worked in field of water conservation.

Life[edit]

Shri Mathurbhai Madhabhai Savani Born on 12-01-1963, Khopala, Dist. Bhavnagar,  State, Gujrat. Taking Primary Education in village. In1975 he started his career in surat as a diamond worker & in 1980, he has established his own company for business of Importing, Exporting, Manufacturing & Polishing of  Diamonds Named “Savani Brothers.” He used to go Europe, America & Israel for business purpose. He was impressed by water management of Israel & in 1997 He became the founder of “Saurastra Jaldhara Trust” to save & Conserve water. He became the president of the trust..[1]

Social work[edit]

He established Saurashtra Jaldhara Trust to spread awareness regarding water conservation in 1999-2000. He carried out awareness campaign and took walks across dry and water short Saurashtra region of Gujarat. He worked extensively to construct check dams across Saurashtra by community participation and government support.[1][2] He later cofounded "Beti Bachao Abhiyan" to spread awareness regarding female infanticide.[1]

STORAGE, CONSERVATION & EFFICIENT USE OF  RAINFALL WATER

Work done for creating mass awareness and awakening of people.

- 3250 meetings in villages of Saurastra, Kutch and  North Gujarat, visit of 350 villages and tour for 1500 days were organised. Three Conventions at state level, Seven Conventions at dist. level and Five Gram Shibirs were organised.

- Bhimdad to Bhadrod 150 - km. long Padyatra was organised with 500 Padyatris for 10 days.

- Talgajrda to Porbandar 325 - km long Padyatra was organised with 1000 Padyatris for 20 days.

- Represented for "Sardar Patel Sahbhagi Jalsanchay Yojna" with People's Participation, which got a Govt. nod. In which 80% of construction cost to be borne by the Govt. & 20% to be borne by the villagers.

- For Excavation of Check-dams & Farm ponds 40 JCB Machines were purchased from the fund obtained from the donors & provided free of cost to the villagers. Only diesel cost was to be borne by the people. Moreover, Trust has supplied 2 lacs bags of cement free of cost, to inspire the village water committees.

- Highly qualified Engineers of Saurastra Jaldhara Trust, provided technical guidance to village Jalsanchay Committees, free of cost.

-  All the people of same village staying outside the village for business and other works were motivated for donations.

- 50 lacs booklets, pamphlets, folders, leaflets were distributed, 50 thousand video CDs were distributed and Telefilm in 2950 villages were shown by mobile van.

-  Result :

(1)    More than 1,00,000 check-dams were constructed by different village committees.

(2)    Water level increased due to more than 1,00,000 big and small check-dams.

(3)    High increase in Agriculture Production.

(4)    New employment generated and people's purchase power increased. More over migratation from village to city decreased.

(5)    Quality of drinking water improved.

(6)    Environment improved due to tree plantation.

(7)    The farmers and social workers of other states visited the area and started the same work in their own states.

TO CREATE MASS AWARENESS AND MASS AWAKENING, " TO SAVE GIRL CHILD AND FEMALE FOETUS."

Mahaprasad ladu of 10,000 kg was prepared on 1-1-2006. 12 lacs people gathered at the same time, same day & same site on 1st January-2006 & took the lunch. Same thing is recorded in the " Limca Book of World Record " . “Prasad” packets were prepared and distributed in each home of 18,000 villages with a message to Save Girl Child and Female Foetus”.

- A car rally of 300 cars from Surat to Somnath, was organised. An oath to Save Girl Child and Female Foetus” was taken in the presence of Somnath Mahadev.

- One lac girl students wrote 2 lacs post cards having message to Save Girl Child and Female Foetus” in twelve minutes and posted for 18,000 villages of Gujarat.

-   Result of these mass awakening and awareness, the girl birth rate increased from 770 to  870 per 1000 boys within a period of one year.

OWN HOUSE :

-Food, Clothes & Shelter are the basic needs of everyone. 50 % of village people residing in city don't have their own houses. So as to provide "Own House" at a concessional rate to every person of Gadhada taluka residing in surat, the "Gadhpur Township" scheme was prepared. Acquired the building materials by creating awareness for social responsibilities among the producers of building materials and donors.  The Govt's assistance was also received in a direct or indirect manner.

-The scheme to provide 1250 houses to homeless people on "No Profit No Loss" basis, was successfully implemented by collective efforts of Saurastra Jaldhara Trust, State Govt, Donors and Building material producers. 

 SAMAST PATIDAR  SAMAJ, SURAT

- Samast Patidar Samaj, Surat was founded to unite sub-castes of Patidars to render good services to the society.

- The Samaj provides interest free education loan to needy & brilliant students. Nearly 1500 students have been benefited by this scheme, till today.

- Now this has become model for other castes and they also have started the same scheme.

FLOOD RELIEF

- Surat city was merged under heavy flood in august 2006. Saurastra Jaldhara Trust, coordinated all the NGOs and volunteers for relief works. 40 JCB machines of the Trust were deployed for relief work. Surat city was cleaned nicely within a period of 15 days.

 KIRAN HOSPITAL

- He has Play important role to start a construction of Multi Specialty Kiran Hospital with 500 beds at cost of 500 corers to provide low coast qualitative treatment to the people.

-  Shri Mathurbhai Madhabhai Savani is the recipient of numerous awards and honors. Gujarat Govt's Chief Minister - Public Health award for the year 1998-99, Chief Minster- Roupya Chandrak Purskar for the year 2001 and Gujarat Gaurav Deen Sanman Purskar for the year 2004 were received. "Patidar Ratnshri" Award from Akhil Gujarat Patidar Parisad and "Rajshri Award" from Sandipani Vidhya Niketan, Probandar for the year 2005 & "Samaj Shresthi Award" from Saurastra Patel Kelvani Mandal was also received in 2006.  Padmashree Award for the year 2014 by the President of IndiaNew Delhi. Apart from this he was awarded with more than 1000 awards and Letter of Appreciation by many voluntary educational institutes, associations and village committees of Saurastra,  Kutch & North Gujarat.

Gujarat Govt's Chief Minister - Public Health award for the year 1998-99, Chief Minster- Roupya Chandrak Purskar for the year 2001 and Gujarat Gaurav Deen Sanman Purskar for the year 2004 were received. "Patidar Ratnshri" Award from Akhil Gujarat Patidar Parisad and "Rajshri Award" from Sandipani Vidhya Niketan, Probandar for the year 2005 & "Samaj Shresthi Award" from Saurastra Patel Kelvani Mandal was also received in 2006.  Padma shri Award for the year 2014 by the President of IndiaNew Delhi. Apart from this he was awarded with more than 1000 awards and Letter of Appreciation by many voluntary educational institutes, associations and village committees of Saurastra,  Kutch & North Gujarat, the fourth highest civilian award in India, in 2014 for his contribution in social works.[1][3][4]
