Star Boxing is a boxing promotional company founded in 1992 by CEO and President Joseph DeGuardia. The company was originally based in the Bronx, NY, but moved their offices to White Plains, NY in 2016.[1]
For the last 26 years, Star Boxing has been professionally active in the boxing industry promoting boxing stars and world champions. Past and present, boxers promoted by Star Boxing include former world champion Antonio Tarver, two time World Champion and 2008 US Olympian Demetrius Andrade, former WBO Jr. Welterweight champion Chris Algieri, former IBF Welterweight champion Joshua Clottey and former WBC International Light Heavyweight champ Joe Smith Jr..[2][3]

Joe DeGuardia[edit]
Joe DeGuardia is an American boxing promoter and lawyer, and the son of former professional boxer Joseph DeGuardia Sr.. The younger DeGuardia competed in the ring himself and achieved a successful amateur career.[4] After receiving his Undergraduate Degree from Fordham University, Star Boxing's CEO attended Hofstra Law School and earned his Graduate (Juris Doctorate). During his time at Hofstra, DeGuardia won the welterweight division (147 lbs, open division) of the 1988 New York City Golden Gloves tournament. He defeated highly touted pro-boxer Larry Barnes in the tournament's championship fight.[5]. Barnes went on to a successful professional boxing career, amassing a 44-3 pro record including fighting for the World Championship against multiple World Champion Felix Trinidad.[6][7]
DeGuardia upon graduation from law school went to work as a prosecutor for the Bronx District Attorney's Office. In 1993, DeGuardia went into private practice and founded a law office in his native Bronx, New York.[8]
Joe DeGuardia began promoting boxing fights in 1992, founding Star Boxing, a boxing promotional company originally based in the Bronx, NY. In 2016, DeGuardia moved Star Boxing's offices to White Plains, NY.

Rockin' Fights Series[edit]
Since 2012, Star Boxing has developed a big presence in Long Island, NY. In the town of Huntington, the promotional company has used The Paramount as a home-base with their series of fight shows called "Rockin' Fights". The Rockin' Fights series has given many fighters the opportunity to build their professional careers and become more renowned, such as Chris Algieri, Cletus Seldin, and Joe Smith Jr. As of 2018, Star Boxing has held over 30 "Rockin' Fights" events at The Paramount. Slugfest at the Sun[edit]
Star Boxing has also made a name for itself in Connecticut with its string of shows called "Slugfest at the Sun".[10] Beginning in 2004, the New York promotional company has been heavily involved in the Uncasville area, more specifically at Mohegan Sun Casino & Resort.[11]
