Introduction:

Fazilatus Shaikh Muhammad Maroof As-Salafi Hafizahullah or Maroof Salafi (also written as فضيلة الشيخ محمد معروف السلفي حفظه الله), born on 1st of February, 1967 in small village of Bhawwara in Madhubani district of Bihar, widely referred to as Shaikh Maroof Salafi, is an Indian-born Kolkata-based Islamic Scholar and a well-known globally known luminary as a ‘Mahir-e-Islamiat’ (expert in the field of Islamic studies), Mufassir-e-Quran (expert in explanation of The Holy Quran) most notably his "Dars Program of Holy Quran in Tipu Sultan Masjid near Esplanade area in Kolkata" which is a sit-down program is held every two weeks at the heritage mosque continues for more than thirty years. He is an active television and media personality He is an educationist from Bihar & West Bengal (Kolkata), author of thirty-five literary works in Islamiyat, among which titled ‘Talkhees Maanil Qur’an’ is a summary of The Holy Quran in Urdu language. He is also a philanthropist and a social activist from West Bengal and Bihar. Dars-e-Hadees proramme twice every week of ‘Sahi Al-Bukhari’ or commonly Bukhari Sharif inside his mosque bi-weekly as well as other places outside Kolkata a guest speaker numerous times all over India in various mosques places such as Chennai, Hyderabad, Kanpur, Lucknow, Allahabad, Mumbai, Ghazipur, Banaras, Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Keojhar, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Vaishali, Muzaffarpur, New Delhi, Vishakhapatnam, as a guest speaker or ‘Khateeb’ even today. He is also “The Official Spokesperson of Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadees” sub-section of Islam on behalf of the West Bengal wing of the Ahl-e-Hadees sect since 1988. He is also an active YouTube content creator Vlogger having regularly delivered on various topics, situations events, public gathering and private and personal occasions more than across 1800 YouTube videos so far to his name still continues to his credit. He is also an official "Muslim marriage registrar and a registered Qazi for The Government of West Bengal", he is currently translating The Holy Quran in Urdu. He highest achievement as a Islamic preacher claimed by himself is that of “The Official Imam of Jama Masjid Ahl-e-Hadees in Kolkata” since the past thirty-six years to the present where he is gives his regular ‘Khut Batul Jumuah’ or (Friday Sermons).

Early Childhood, Education & Academic Career:

Born in the year 1st of February 1967, to Hafiz Abdul Aziz, a well-known figure in the village Goapokhar, Bhaoara in the district of Madhubani in Bihar, a prodigal personality who completed memorization of Holy Quran at the age of thirty years after getting married to his mother Zaibun Nesa while riding tractor in his farmlands in the early days on his life. There is a prodigal truth to his early childhood wherein he was found be mostly indulgent in studies and went to play fewer or lesser times, once and mostly he was found to climb up a guava tree near his home and used to start giving speeches by himself. He has been religious and a regular in prayers since a small child. Following up his enthusiasm and his religious indulgence from an early age, he was sent to study in Madrasah Deeniyah Zer-e-Qila in Ghazipur where he obtained his “Moulviyat” and then went to continue his education further in Jamia Salafia in Banaras to obtain his “Aalimiyat and Fazilat” in Uttar Pradesh. He studied for ten long years before finally returning back home in Bihar temporarily. During this period, he did Imamat and delivered sermons in Majhaura near Janakpur in Nepal before finally departing for his lifelong journey to the metropolitan city of Kolkata in the state of West Bengal in the year 1988 till present with the sole intent of spread the message of Islam to others. Till today he has established himself as the “Official Imam of Jame Masjid Ahl-e-Hadees in Kolkata”.

He is an active and a regular orator, preacher and propagator of Islam (Da’ee) having served 1000s of sermons and lectures across various levels and stature in India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Saudi Arabia most notably in the Holy Cities of Mecca and Medina between 2004-2018.

Active Television & Media Personality:

His first interview of thirty-five minutes came on “Jeddah Urdu News Service” in the year 2004. The interview was hosted by its Channel Director ‘Ataullah Khan’ and was the interview aired by the news channel in Jeddah in the same year.
His next interview by prominent Indian newspaper Mumbai Mirror by Rakhi Chakraborty and the interview were transformed as a literary work titled “Islam and Terrorism” in the year 2006.
He addressed a press conference in the prominent “Press Club of Kolkata” interview was conducted in the presence of major national news media channels on global “Jyllands-Posten Muhammad cartoons controversy” in the year 2006.
A seven-minute interview was also conducted by ETV Urdu on the essence of the month of Ramadhan. The interview was conducted by television journalist Shabana Ejaz.
He gave a numerous landmark interview between 2018 till present on various subject and events concerning peace for the Muslim and national communities.
He jointly chaired with Imam-e-Eidan of Kolkata Qari Fazlur Rahman a significant landmark among Muslim events in Kolkata that was also attended by numerous clerics and dignitaries of various sects of Islam as well as other religions such as Christianity and Hinduism in a massive state-level mass protest against the oppression and genocide of Palestinians. The event was estimated to have attracted more than 20,000 participants who staged a demonstration against the atrocities and genocide in Palestine after October 7. The event was hosted by international body “Friends of Palestine” wing of Kolkata, and it was jointly organized by various prestigious Muslim organizations like Jamiat Ulema, Jamate Islami, Majlis-e-Musha Wirat, The Shia Community of Kolkata, Calcutta Khilafat Committee among others. The event was widely covered by all local, state and national news and print media houses as all sects' clerics in Kolkata gathered together and joined hands in solidarity for the first time in an open demonstration and he led an official delegation of six people to submit a memorandum to ‘The Consular General of American Embassy in Kolkata’.
