Dr. Elgamal was born in Egypt on January 10, 1951. He studied in Egypt, Sweden, USA and Canada. He is married to Dr. Amal Youssef and has four children: Youssef (1987), Hannah (1999), Omar (1999) and Sophie (1999)

Dr. ElGamal has more than 25 years proven and successful records in business, science, technology in the areas of economic development, transportation, information technology, engineering, education, and healthcare. He also enjoys the community work and public service. He serves on several boards of various organizations.

He directed and successfully delivered programs and projects in aviation, economic development, education, healthcare and engineering for private and public sectors. Dr. ElGamal lectured in various universities in USA & Canada and has published several refereed papers. Dr. El-Gamal is now the President and CEO of Applied Technology, Inc. (ATI) which is active in several countries. Prior to ATI he founded and successfully run other companies in USA, Canada, and in the Middle East Dr. El-Gamal is the President of the Democratic center on Middle East Studies. He is also the Coordinator of the Egyptian People’s movement to restore the stolen Egyptian Money & Properties. Dr. El-Gamal is the founder and Chairman of Egypt, the Hope (ETH). ETH is an umbrella organization that unites and coordinates all efforts of Egyptians abroad to help the Egyptian Economy. ETH provided aids and materials to those who were injured during the Egyptian revolution Dr. El-Gamal presently is the President and Chairman of Muslim American Public Affairs Council (MAPAC). He also is a member of the Board of Trustees of Al-Iman School of Raleigh, a member of the Triangle Interfaith Groups, an active member of several Interfaith Organization of the NC Council of Churches.
