Makaronka[edit]

MAKARONKA is an art-center in Rostov-on-Don, uniting the experimental theater "18+", an exhibition area and artists' studios. Opened on the territory of the former pasta factory in January 2013 by the efforts of the 16thLINE gallery.

History[edit]

The opening of the MAKARONKA art-area was preceded by the holding in August 2012 on the territory of the former pasta factory located at: st. 18 line, 10, next to the gallery 16thLINE, the Festival of Street Art "Pasta Factory", which united several exhibitions and projects, including lectures, concerts, performances, graffiti contest[1]. Every weekend there were lectures on street art, which were read by specialists from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Perm, Tashkent and other cities[1][2]. About 50 street-art and graffiti artists took part in the festival, among which there were Russian famous graffiti artists and street artists like Kirill Who and Misha Most, as well as guests from Ukraine, Belarus and Germany[3].

MAKARONKA was opened in Rostov-on-Don on the territory of the former pasta factory on January 31, 2013[4][5]. During the opening, the first premiere of the 18+ Theatre was presented - the documentary thrash-musical "The Father" staged by Yuri Muravitsky on the play of Lyubov Mulmenko[5], as well as the exhibition of the art group "SIEVE"[6]. Since February 2013, in the auditorium of the MAKARONKA art-field, film screenings of non-commercial films (curator Maxim Berezin) began[7][8].

In August 2013, in Rostov-on-Don, the city's contemporary art festival "Territory of Joint Action" was held by the efforts of the Contemporary Art Gallery 16thLINE and the MAKARONKA Art Center.
