H2Olympia: Artesian Well Advocates was founded as a non-profit organization in Olympia, Washington to preserve the use of the artesian well system.

Olympia, Washington and its surrounding communities have enjoyed the artesian water in the area as a source of drinking water for many years. The artesian water was used as a water source historically until a municipal water system came on line. The Olympia Brewing Company created the slogan, "It's the water" describing that the artesian water contributed to the good taste of it's beer.

Daily, hundreds of people from all walks of life go down to the one remaining publicly accessible well and fill containers for personal and household use. The artesian water comes from an underground Artesian aquifer that dispenses water through a 2-inch pipe coming out of the ground. The rate of flow is about 10 gallons per minute.

The water is tested by the Thurston County Public District under an agreement reached in 2009 to preserve the use of the well for the public.[1] The current situation is not a permanent solution for access to the artesian well system, as the property the well is located on is privately owned.

H2Olympia advocates to preserve the current well and participates in formulating a permanent plan to create publicly accessible facilities for the Olympia community to be able to enjoy the artesian water into the future. [edit] Notes
