The King's Foundation is a UK registered charity, motivated by their Christian heritage. The foundation, based in Sheffield, England, provides activity camps for children, employment opportunities for young people, professional services to the leisure industry and training and resources for volunteers across the UK and internationally.

History

The charity was formed in 1991 and initially operated out of the King’s Centre Church in Sheffield, UK. The foundation started by managing sports camps in three cities, Sheffield, Bradford and Leeds and contributed their income to support projects such as a soup wagon programme for young homeless people in Sheffield (which still exists today).

Subsequently a national network of venues was developed to allow increasing numbers of children to experience structured sports and activity programmes during the school holidays. The King's Foundation is a charity that generates its own income and, both programmes that they run and their work with external organisations, positively contribute to their charitable objectives.

Kings Volunteer

In 2011 the foundation launched the Kings Volunteer program to provide equipment, inspiration and know-how to enable individuals and groups to use sport to transform children, young people and communities. Over the past 20 years the organization has developed a sports participation model that can be used in any setting to get children active and to provide a platform for communicating faith, education and health messages.
