About Me[edit]

Hi my name is Michael Golrick. I have been editing Wikipedia since 2005, but am not an expert, and most of my edits have been minor.

Professional: I am a librarian and am passionate about helping people find the information they need.

My undergraduate degree from Brown University is in Religious Studies. I have an MS in LS from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and an MBA from the University of Arizona. I have been a business reference librarian at Tucson Public Library (its name then) and the Bridgeport (CT) Public Library.

I have been the Library Director/City Librarian at the Wilton (CT) Library, the Bridgeport (CT) Public Library, and the L.E.Phillips Memorial Public Library in Eau Claire WI. I am currently the Head of Reference and a Library Consultant at the State Library of Louisiana.

Volunteer professional activities have included service on the board of the Connecticut Library Association (and as President 1999-2000), and in the American Library Association. I have served on ALA Council (1997-2012) including service on the ALA Executive Board. I had the honor of serving as the President of the Association of Specialized and Cooperative Library Agencies (ASCLA, a division of ALA) in 2015-16. Starting in 2018, I began a term as the ALA Councilor for ASGCLA - through 2021.
