Republicanism has been the primary foundation of the establishment of Indonesia as a sovereign and independent nation, with its ideas deeply rooted in the independence movement and fueled by nationalist sentiments. The movement that advocated for republican ideals was supported by the opposition for the implementation of partial autonomy under Dutch control, aiming for complete independence for Indonesia. Additionally, this movement was also supported by the desire of Indonesian nationalists who want to abolish the indigenous feudal system in their homeland.
