Copyediting—English Usage

I want to thank you for copyediting! We certainly need copyeditors here at Wikipedia and your help is appreciated. I just wanted to let you know that you recently made an edit which was reverted or removed because it only contained differences in valid spellings of English words. The article is in American English, and you made changes to British English. For future reference, Wikipedia has a policy regarding such edits. In short, though:

• Consistent usage in an article is important.
• Articles that are specific to events in the United States should use American English—same for British English in regions that use it.
• If an article has both American and British spellings for various words which can be spelled either way, they should all be normalized to one or the other—remember, consistency!

Using this template

To use this template:

{{subst:User:Fd0man/Templates/Copyediting-AmUK-English|article=name|var1=type|var2=type2}}

You can leave out var1 and var2, and they will default to English and British respectively. If you want to change the order, you must do it manually. None of the arguments is required, but they are recommended.
