Michael Ampadu (born August, 1992) is a Ghanaian politician who is the Communications Officer[1] for the New Patriotic Party in United Kingdom's Bristol Chapter and also the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) Vice President in the United Kingdom. He is currently a Doctoral Researcher[2] in the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom, a former TESCON organizer at the University of Cape Coast, a former polling station secretary[3] for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Nsawam Adoagyiri constituency, a former TESCON-UK’s Organizing Committee Chairman and a former TESCON UK Public Relation Officer. He is also a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communications team.

Birth

Michael has four siblings; three brothers and one sister and he is the second born of his parents. He was born and raised in Abeka-Fadama, in the Greater Accra  Region of Ghana.

Education

Michael had his basic education at Blessed Assurance School, New-Fadama in Greater Accra region of Ghana. He continued his secondary education at SDA Senior High Schooll, Bekwai in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. Michael read BSc. Mathematics with Business at the University Of Cape Coast, Cape Coast. Michael holds a Masters degree in Management and Leadership (MSc) from the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences, formerly Szent Istvan University in Hungary and is currently pursuing a doctorate degree in learning leadership and Policy (Doctor of Education, EdD/PhD)[4] at the University of Bristol in United Kingdom.

Michael Ampadu is a Christian and attends the Church of Pentecost. He is married to Philipa Arthur.

Political Career

While at the University of Cape Coast, Michael was a political community member, appointed as the Welfare Chairman for Students Representative Council (S.R.C), University of Cape Coast, Ghana from 2016 to 2017. Awarded Political Personality Of The Year, Oguaa Hall, University of Cape Ghana for 2016 to 2017 academic year. He was elected the PRESIDENT for Bekwai Adventist Old Students’ Association in the University of Cape Coast (BAOSA UCC), Ghana from 2016 to 2017. Michael worked as a Research Assistant to the New Patriotic Party’s Member of Parliament for Nsawam Adoagyiri Constituency of the 8th parliament of the Republic of Ghana before traveling to continue his studies abroad. Michael participated in the  6th Visegrad University Association (VUA) YOUTH Scientific Session on “Security, Safety and Sustainability” Conference Proceeding[5] (Page 49-61) Published by Szent Istvan University, Hungary ISBN: 978-963-269-868-7 and was awarded the Second Place position for the conference that was jointly organized by the VUA and Faculty of Economics and Social Science of Szent Istvan University, Hungary on 19th November, 2019. Michael was awarded the Student Diaspora of the Year award in 2023. Michael has contributed significantly towards national discourse by writing articles stating his views towards development.[6][7][8][9][10]

Other Roles

Michael joined the Conservative party in the United Kingdom from (May 2023 to May 2024). The Conservative party is a sister party of the New Patriotic Party  in Ghana that shares the same vision with the aim of championing continues major economic transformation and significant strides in development pursuit. The New Patriotic Party and the Conservative Party both belong to the global alliance of center-right political parties in the world, which is the International Democrat Union (IDU) and has had a close working relationship with each other over the years. Michael is a Patron for Loyal Ladies in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Constituency; a volunteer group under the youth wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
