Ashley Elder Wikipedia's Coyote (mythology) article for ENGL2131.00[edit]

Analysis of Article[edit]

After reading the Wikipedia article about Coyote (Mythology), I felt as if there were a few points that were left out. The opening paragraph does not even give full or enough information as in how the coyotes are anthropomorphic. The next thing is that there is not enough information on how the myths and legends are different from culture to culture. There also is not enough information on how the myth lore of these Coyote animals so important in the Native American Culture. In my revised paragraph you will see that I revised it to put more information from my first point in it, and in my original contribution you will also see that i added information from my second point.

Revised[edit]

Coyotes are a mythological character most likely common to many cultures of the indigenous people of North America. Although, you may see this animal with coyote like features as having fur, pointed ears, yellow eyes, a tail and claws. This character is most commonly a male and is normally Anthropomorphic meaning they can have human like characteristic. You may see this character in movies or in very popular T.V. shows. you may also hear about this character in a variety of different ways from different cultures.

Original Contribution[edit]

The Mythology of Coyotes are very well known and is a major figure in the Native American Culture. Coyote characters are often played as a animal which we see him as, but he also plays as a human in other stories and cartoons as well. The myths and legends of these animals vary from culture to culture but generally stay the same during Native American culture. Although Coyotes play as both an animal and human they have a diverse role in different stories. Coyotes normally represent themselves in most of the stories we have read or movies we have seen. For the most part they also represent or is known as a messenger, a trickster, or someone that acts silly through out a story. With that being said, Coyotes can be seen as playing the roles of other animals and also as human being. Coyotes are normally seen in some stories as starting out to be friendly and nice to, but in the end he ends up tricking them and stealing their stuff from them.
