Byrgundy Mallory’s Biography[edit]

Byrgundy Mallory won the title Miss Black Universe 2013 in June. Byrgundy Mallory was born and raised in the great State of Tennessee. She has been in the pageant, dance & cheer industry well over 17 years. Byrgundy made double history by becoming the youngest Miss Black Universe to hold the "Miss" title at 19 years old. The transformation within titleholders during the 2012-2013 pageant season would prove to have titled the most amount of minority titleholders in history and Byrgundy was among these legendary females. Dedication, patience, organization, motivation, and reliability are all qualities she has exemplified within the realm of her coaching endeavors. Byrgundy is a sophomore at East Tennessee State University. She is the proud daughter of Mr. Geoffrey & Dr. Octavia Mallory. Family is a big deal to her and she is gives all the glory of her success to God.

Miss. Mallory has coached various dance and cheer classes. She also has experience in assisting with teams during competitions such as make-up, getting dancers on and off stage, assisting dancers during workshops, and working during recitals and important rehearsals. She has excelled as a coach, and choreographer. Byrgundy has expertise in tumbling, jazz, hip hop, combo, ballet, character, and prop dance. She has been able to maximize her dedication toward concentrations in solos, duos, trios, small & large groups, and production dance. She has also a very experienced in teaching both standing and running tumbling such as backhand spring, tucks and layouts. Moreover, her specialty is in the world of competitive dance and cheer competitions.She is proud to have nine years of coaching experience. Her specialty is solo, duos, and small groups.

Miss. Mallory has achieved many accomplishments in the dance industry. She had teams to win the All American Dance Festival in Orlando, Florida at the Hard Rock Café Concert Hall judged by Universal & Disney World Dance Judges. Her dance numbers have been featured in many magazines. Skip Costa, featured in the motion picture You Got Served, highly complimented the level of technical skills created by Byrgundy Mallory and awarded them 6-1st place awards. Her numbers were featured in his brochures. Then, the judges created a special “Sportsmanship Award” because the team exemplified love and support toward other teams’ accomplishments. Ellen Worksmen with Applause Dance, a fantastic choreographer in Chicago complimented the technical skills and facial performance that her dancers exemplified in competitions.

Byrgundy’s dancers have been judged by many Broadway performers like Annie, Hairspray, and Mame. They have performed in Panama City, Orlando, Myrtle Beach, and Atlanta among the best to name a few. They have also been featured on So You Think You Can Dance, Fame, and critiqued by Debbie Allen. Byrgundy Mallory has also excelled reading music and participated in All-East for Gibbs High School and has six years of vocal music training as a hobby. Byrgundy’s dancers have danced at Disney World, Applause Regionals and Nationals, I Love Dance, Celebration Regionals and Nationals. She is the Varsity Cheerleader of July and prides herself on teaching with excellence. She also has pageant coaching experience and holds many local, state and national titles.
