Elizabeth LaPensée, Ph.D., is an Anishinaabe, Métis, and Irish designer, writer, and researcher. She creates on a variety of mediums, but focuses specifically on Indigenous game development that is informed by her cultural values and teachings. She also expresses herself through comics, experimental animation, and other interactive media.

She believes strongly in the value of games in passing on teachings and the importance of collaborating with Indigenous community members during the development process.[2] In an interview with Vicki Moulder from Simon Fraser University she says, "I do my best to contribute to games with the hope of players remembering and activating teachings about our creative connection to land and life."[3]
