Wikipedia:WikiProject New York State routes is by far the strongest and most collaborative project under control of Project U.S. Roads. NYSR was created in February 2006 by User:Censorwolf, and has grown significantly since. There was one subproject of NYSR, New York County Routes, which has been closed down since September 2007. The remaining County Route articles (not including lists), located in Erie, Rockland, Suffolk and Dutchess Counties, are now under the jurisdiction of NYSR.

New York has by far the most B-class articles of any subproject, with over 160 (as of January 31, 2008). There are also several GAs. With all articles combined, NY totals at 650+ articles. In November 2007, an Article Improvement Drive was introduced, only the 2nd created by USRD. The Article Improvement Drive has turned into a collaborative success and with its help have gotten articles like New York State Route 22 to GA.

What is the notability in NYSR?

[edit]

The notability of NYSR's articles fall under the following categories:

  1. State highways that are currently in commission. (Examples: New York State Route 825, New York State Route 100)
  2. Decertified state highways without suffixes. (Examples: New York State Route 348, New York State Route 380
  3. Former major alignments of routes. (Example: County Route 560 (Erie County, New York) (268 alignment))

Naming standards

[edit]

The naming standards for NYSR's articles fall under the following:

  1. State highway number. (Examples: Just about any article.)
  2. New designation for former route (Example: County Route 574 (Erie County, New York) - 422 - Note: This is slowly being phased out.)
  3. Minor highways list. (Examples: Routes 359 and 458)
  4. Former minor highways list. (Examples: Routes 358 and 368)
  5. Designation of former route (Examples: New York State Route 380, New York State Route 428)
