User:Mojaam/Bloggers of Northern Nigeria Network (BANN)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The BANN is a network of Northern Nigerian bloggers and content creators.

The BANN Network is committed to the promotion of free expression, dissemination of quality digital content, increased access to authentic news and information, and tackling the spread of fake news and misinformation about Northern Nigeria.

The BANN Network was formed in 2014 as Arewa Bloggers Forum after a series of discussions concerning content creation and consumption of digital media in Nigeria leading to one of the most important elections in Nigeria’s young democracy, the 2015 presidential election.

Moreover, the kidnapping of over 200 school girls from Chibok, Northern Nigeria in April 2014 by the dangerous terrorist organization, Boko Haram, has made access to authentic news and information from Northern Nigeria challenging.

The BANN Network is committed to owning and shaping authentic narrative about Northern Nigeria, a region often neglected and misrepresented by both national and international media.
