Elected Council control after election

Liberal Democrats

The first elections to the newly created Salisbury City Council were held on 4 June 2009.[1]

The whole council was up for election and the election was contested by 54 candidates, representing the Liberal Democrats, Conservatives, Labour, Green Party, British National Party, and also by two Independents.[2] The Liberal Democrats took control.[3]

All wards were new, coinciding with eight new divisions of the newly created Wiltshire Council.[3]

All eight city council wards share the boundaries of the eight Wiltshire Council electoral divisions within Salisbury.

The fourth set of elections to the Salisbury City Council were held on 6 May 2021 alongside other local elections across the United Kingdom. Constituency boundaries were redrawn and one seat was added to the council.

The Conservative Party lost the majority it had gained in a landslide in the previous election. Despite more than doubling its share of the vote and receiving the third-highest total votes, the Green Party won no seats.[1]
