If the fragrance of God's remembrance pervades the West, the sick man in the East might get well again.

— Egyptian poet

Hello and Welcome

[edit]

My friend, you and I shall remain strangers unto life,

And unto one another, and each unto himself,

Until the day when you shall speak and I shall listen

Deeming your voice my own voice; And when I shall stand before you

Thinking myself standing before a mirror.

--Kahlil Gibran

About me

[edit]

I don't enjoy talking about myself. Or perhaps there's really nothing to talk about. And, as Wittgenstein puts it, "Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one must be silent." I believe I have an obligation to remain silent.

What I do

[edit]

I mostly write biographies of Islamic studies scholars, both Muslims and non-Muslims, along with other figures connected to Islam. I am particularly interested in Islam and the Qur'an, decolonial studies, and perennial philosophy, topics on which I have written some articles. I've also had the opportunity to rewrite and expand upon some pre-existing articles, particularly those related to esoteric aspects of Islam. Besides these subjects, I have broad interests in philosophy and religion, and I may occasionally edit in these areas if something piques my interest.
