History
[edit]2006-2008: The Early Years
[edit]The Venetia Fair played their first show December 30th, 2006. During 2007 they recorded and self-released 5 songs at The Getaway Group Studio in Wakefield, MA with Jay Maas. In August of 2008 Benny, Mr. Chark, Sam Parsons, and Jake Weinreb rented a house in Woburn, MA and began writing The Circus.
2008-2009: The Circus
[edit]In September of 2008, the band recorded tracks 5-10 of The Circus at Wild Blue Sky Studios in Providence, RI with Casey Crescenzo, Nick Crescenzo, and Andy Wildrick, of The Dear Hunter. Those tracks were not released until they signed to Red Blue Records in March of 2009. following those sessions, Jessie Homan, the then-current keyboardist, left the band to pursue other interests. They replaced her with Joe Occiutti. Jake Weinreb, the then-current drummer, left shortly afterwards. The band signed to Red Blue Records in March of 2009 without a drummer. Their first release under Red Blue Records was called "Gullinkambi's E.P." which featured "The Ringleader" and "The Sideshow Tent" from the Wild Blue Sky Studios sessions and "Let's Just Forget About This" from The Getaway Group Studio sessions. [7]
In April, 2009, they recorded tracks 1-4 of The Circus at The Buddy Project in Astoria, NY with Dan Coutant of Joshua (band) [8]. Chris Constantino then joined the band as the drummer in May, 2009. The Circus was released June 12th, 2009 [9] They then spent the next 5 months straight touring and promoting the record on Warped Tour.
2010: Writing The Pits
[edit]Except for some touring and promotion at festivals like Bamboozle and SXSW, the band spent the next 18 months writing. In December 2010, they recorded a cover of "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch", a song from the Dr. Seuss book The Grinch.[10] During this time they were forced to move from several practice locations for various reasons, and became very publicly depressed. [11]
2011-Present
[edit]In May of 2011, The Venetia Fair recorded 4 songs at The Square Studio in Syracuse, NY, [12] which they released along with their cover of "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" on an EP titled "The Pits". [13] They played 18 dates of the 2011 Warped Tour on the Dzambo Stage. [14]
