Hi! My name is Gart van Gennip

In 2006, I came to Iquitos as an English teacher. I planned to stay for a year and then move on. But as you can see; I am still here! I now teach English privately, as well as parttime at the University.

Iquitos is a great place to live, as well as to visit. Apart from teaching, I have learned a lot about the city, its history and culture, and about the rainforest that surrounds us.

Since my arrival here, I have travelled extensively throughout the region. During the first half of 2009, I worked as the manager of the Amazon Explorers Club, a project of Dawn on the Amazon, a well-known and respected tours and cruises company in Iquitos. As a tour guide, I went on several 5-day excursions into the jungle, as well as on countless daytrips to destinations in and near the city.
