Michael Louis Rothman (born February 6th, 1973) is an American social entrepreneur and intellectual who has worked in the field of public education since 1998. Michael is currently the executive director of Eskolta School Research and Design, a non-profit organization that he founded and that works with public transfer schools in New York City, where he currently serves as Executive Director. Michael founded Eskolta in 2010 after realizing the need for educators to have a deeper level of assistance to realize their vision for education, and sawthe need for an organization committed to Eskolta’s values.

In addition to working in the Massachusetts Department of Education, the New York City Department of Education, and New Visions for Public Schools, Michael previously served as the Executive Director of the Project for School Innovation, a nonprofit organization he helped found to act as a grassroots network for public school educators to share success and drive school change. Michael has authored and edited various articles and studies of effective practices in education and has presented at conferences of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, the National Staff Development Council, and the U.S. Department of Education. The nonprofit organizations he founded have been highlighted in studies by Jobs for the Future and the Progressive Policy Institute. Michael has edited 15 books on effective practices in public education and produced 8 videos on effective schools.
