Getting started[edit]

You can read every important fact about me on my user page. My suggestions, problems:

  • I usually watch new pages and propose empty pages for deletion, I've created several stub-templates, categorized hundreds of pages
  • I really don't know how many deletion processes I have to particpite in to fulfill the admin requirements
  • I love removing backlogs, I don't know why but I find pleasure in these (It's easy to clean these in hungarian wiki), you could tell me what backlogs should I work on specifically
  • what pages I have to watch to work harder against vandals?
  • in sum: what should I do in the future better or more to be prepared for a RfA?

That's all for now. NCurse work 20:24, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

Those are good points/questions, and should provide plenty to get us started with your admin coaching. Whilst I haven't had time to take a look at your contributions, the above suggests that with a bit of coaching to help you become familiar with en.wiki admin ways you'll make a fine addition to the ranks (I mean 'love removing backlogs' what more could we ask for ;- ) Deletion might be a good one to get started on, so I've presented (in true copy and past fashion!) a starter CSD exercise to help get an idea of you know your way around WP:CSD. No problem if you don't, it will help us give you pointers. Petros471 22:17, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

CSD Exersise[edit]

Here are some articles that were really up for deletion. Take a look at them and say if you would have deleted them and why. A word of warning, if you are doing a google search, the 'answers' appear- so be careful if you want to do this properly :) Exercise created by EWS23 for admin coaching purposes. Petros471 20:17, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

Okay, this is a test to make sure you understand the policies of speedy deletion. The following are actual cases that I have come across while clearing out CAT:CSD. Assume that the title of the page is everything following User:EWS23/CSD/. You are allowed to use any technique that you might usually use to assert notability (e.g.- Google), but you are not allowed to use Wikipedia in any way (you cannot see if the page still exists on Wikipedia, go through my deletion log to see if I deleted it, and any Google searches you do should use "Subject -Wikipedia" which is a good tool anyway to help eliminate Wikipedia mirrors).

Assume for this exercise that you are an administrator. View the page, but do not edit it (I plan on using these for multiple coachees). Then, return here and comment below the entry in question. Write whether you would delete the page or not. If you would, cite the specific criteria at WP:CSD that you would use to delete it. If you would not delete it, state why, and state what you would do to the page (simply remove the tag, redirect it somewhere else, keep it but remove certain information from it, etc.). Good luck! P.S.- In real cases, you should ALWAYS check the page history before making a decision. Sometimes the page is a legitimate article that got vandalized, or page moved, etc. In this case, the page history won't tell you anything (I'm the only contributor), but remember that in real cases the page history is important. Halo 3 trailier[edit]

To be honest, it's maybe an unremarkable fact, but I'm against deleting anything and everything, that's why I'd propose to merge it into the Halo 3 article, but obviously after a copy-edit.

J Allard at a Microsoft press conference stated that the Halo 3 trailer was first recorded in game running real time on the Xbox 360 at E3 in 2006.

But it couldn't stay in the article if there's no source for that (so a {{citationneeded}} template is required). NCurse work 05:16, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

Personally I'd just delete this under A1, no context. The information would probably already be in the Halo 3 article. -- Steel 15:22, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

Union Millwright[edit]

Regarding WP:CSD : No content whatsoever. (Any article consisting only of links...), it should be speedy deleted. NCurse work 09:19, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

I'd delete. -- Steel 15:22, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

Webs[edit]

No question, speedy deletion regarding WP:CSD: Unremarkable people or groups/vanity pages with obscene remarks. NCurse work 09:22, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

I'd delete. -- Steel 15:22, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

Neil Haverton Smith[edit]

Speedy deletion regarding WP:CSD: Unremarkable people or groups/vanity pages as Google shows nothing. NCurse work 09:24, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

I'd delete. -- Steel 15:22, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

Fall Out Boy[edit]

I'd remove the db-bio and insert a cleanup template into the Band history section, because it's a remarkable band ("The band was nominated for "Best New Artist" at the 2006 Grammy Awards."). NCurse work 09:42, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

I'd remove the speedy tag and move on. -- Steel 15:22, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

Nathaniel Bar-Jonah[edit]

Maybe the hardest task here. Nathaniel Bar-Jonah is notorius (see Google search). The article is not nonsense, just poorly written and unreferenced. I'd keep it, but after a copy-edit:

Nathaniel Bar-Jonah (or David Paul Brown) (15 February 1957) is a convicted child predator that is in prison. He was convicted in December, 2002 of murding a neighborhood child.[citation needed]

And I'd include a stub-bio template. NCurse work 09:42, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

I think your idea of removing the nonsense sentences and adding the sub template is probably the best thing to do. -- Steel 15:22, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
