The construction of Arabian canal will beat a couple of world records, as it is not only one of the most complex and major engineering construction of the world, but also one of the most expensive project in the world.The project will costs US$61 billion.The construction of the channel will be only a small part of the grand project. Channel, which will snake from Dubai Waterfront in Jebel Ali and pass to the east of the Dubai World Central development before turning back towards the Palm Jumeirah would cost $11 billion and $50 billion will be spent to build a new "city" in the city, which would take 20,000 hectares of land in the south bank of the channel.The Arabian canal will be 150 metres wide and six metres deep, enough to accommodate yachts up to 40 metres long.[1] The project will be completed in two phases, an $11 billion, 75Km canal which will snake from the palm jebel ali into the palm jumeirah and a $50 billion City within a city , that will cover 20,000 hectares along the canal's southern flank.The canal will be 150 meters wide and six meters deep.The famous canal to date, the Panama Canal, is 77 kilometres long and it took 25 years to build and required the excavation of 190 million cubic metres of earth. Arabian Canal will be 75 kilometres long, and it will take three years to build and will excavate one billion cubic metres of earth, over five times as much as the Panama Canal.

Consrruction work on phase I of Arabian canal is currently in progress, however construction on much of the Arabian canal is currently on-hold.The Arabian canal will take three years to complete.
