Nancy Brooks Brody[edit]

Nancy Brooks Brody (born 1962, died 2024) painter, sculptor and activist.

Nancy Brooks Brody was born in New York on September 12, 1962 and died on December 8th 2023. After graduating from high school Brody enrolled at the School of Visual Arts and soon after, started exhibiting work in downtown clubs. Their work is held in the collections of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; the Centre Pompidou and the Fonds National d’Art Contemporain, Paris.

In 2018 Brody shared the history of their life and activism with Svetlana Kitto[1] as a part of the Smithsonian Institution’s Archives of American Art's Visual Arts and the AIDS Epidemic: An Oral History Project

In 1991 Brody, Joy Episalla, Zoe Leonard, and Carrie Yamaoka, founded the lesbian feminist art activist collective fierce pussy.[2]
