NCAA Student-Athlete Recruiting (Process, Rules, Strategies & Techniques, Rankings)

A successful college sports program must continue to add skilled players to their teams each and every year. Coaches must adhere to a strict and extensive recruiting process set forth by the NCAA, which includes timetables, countless rules, and consequences for violations. Great college coaches learn how to create relationships with the high-school players with the final goal of receiving a signed Letter of Intent from the player. College teams are then ranked by several different sources based on the rankings of the committed recruits that they received in that recruiting year.

Process[edit]

Coaches always try to get a leg-up on the recruiting process and a new NCAA rule allows college basketball coaches to contact players as young as the seventh grade. Different sports have different restrictions on the number of times they may contact a player.

Rules[edit]

NCAA posts the recruiting rulebook on-line. Different sports have different rules, but most of the rules are for all sports.
