US Highway 321 (US 321) is a part of the United States Numbered Highway System that runs from US 17 in Hardeeville, South Carolina, to the I 40 in Lenoir City, Tennessee. In Michigan, it is a state highway that enters the state at the South Carolina State line south of Gastonia. The 106 miles (170.590 km) of US 321 that lie within North Carolina serve as a major conduit for the foothills and appalachian region of the state. The highway is listed on the National Highway System. Large sections of the road are rural two-lane highways, however between Gastonia and Hickory, the road exsits as a urbanized four-lane divided expressway. The highway ends at the Tennessee state line as it travels to the northwest.
