The 1994–95 Club Puebla season is the 51th campaign in existence and 25th consecutive season in the top flight division of Mexican football.
Summary[edit]
In summertime President Udo Thome as club chairman since November 1992 reinforced the squad with several players: Forward Milton Queiroz Tita on loan from Leon,[1][2] replacing club legend Pablo Larios[3] arrived Robert Siboldi from Cruz Azul among others such as Víctor Hugo Macedo (Querétaro), Marco Antonio Sánchez Yacuta (América),Edgar Plascencia (Monterrey), Jesús Eduardo Córdova (América), club legend Paul Moreno returned from CD Guadalajara[4] and Sergio Lira (Tampico Madero). As manager continued rookie head coach Alfredo Tena after his last season debut as caretaker.
The squad competed on Group 3 and owing to its transitional stage not being favourite to classify for postseason along CD Guadalajara, CD Toluca, even Camoteros was in early predictions to challenge young Pumas UNAM and Tampico Madero for the 3rd spot.
However, the squad surprised everyone finishing in 7th place overall thanks to Alfredo Tena managing, with a good performance by the defensive line with goalkeeper Siboldi only allowing 47 goals in 42 matches, Pony Ruiz was another revelation in his first season in Mexico as winger providing a lot of assists. Although the offensive line had a poor performance the team advanced to the postseason only behind Chivas and Pumas UNAM eliminating in repechaje the regional rivals Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz.
Finally, after a competed two leg series in quartertfinals the club was defeated by heavy favourites America.[5]
