About me

[edit]

Hi, I'm Nancy. I live in New Jersey. I am retired now, but I used to work in New York City. I enjoy editing wikipedia when I have time, which is not often. I am the wife of a writer, formerly a software developer, the mother of two grown children, a three-time grandmother, and a former college professor doing research in computer networking and computational biology. I sometimes use wikipedia to provide information that isn't in the class text or isn't done adequately there. Sometimes I have to add information to wikipedia for this purpose. Sometimes I give students assignments to edit parts of articles or to create small articles, if they learn something in class that's not already in wikipedia. Usually, when I grade it, I mark some that i need to return to for editing and correction -- but usually, when I get back to them, they're already fixed! That's why I love wikipedia.

I have a wikipedia page at Nancy Griffeth, my home page at Lehman College (not up-to-date!!) is http://comet.lehman.cuny.edu/griffeth/, and the Website for the CMACS workshop that I founded and ran is at http://www.lehman.cuny.edu/academics/cmacs/.

My Wikipedia Pages

[edit]

My Sandbox for testing new pages and for saving information about topics of interest to me that for whatever reason aren't in wikipedia.

TODO

[edit]

Revisions to Internet protocol suite -- thinking about it.

Revisions to DHCP -- I did a couple, of which I'm not proud, the page needs a lot more thought.

Est omnino difficile iudicare inclusionis meritum cuiusdam rei in encyclopædia cum ratio sciendi quid populi referat incerta sit, sed nihilominus aliquid encyclopædiam dedecet

It is generally difficult to judge the worthiness of a particular topic for inclusion in an encyclopedia considering that there is no certain way to know what interests people, but some topics nevertheless are not fit for an encyclopedia.

This motto reflects the desire of these Wikipedians to be reluctant, but not entirely unwilling, to remove articles from Wikipedia.
