Nicolas Tavitian is a specialist of the Armenian diaspora, a scholar of diasporas and an international civil society organiser. He is currently advisor to Armenia's High Commission for the Diaspora, Zareh Sinanyan in Yerevan.

Born on August 25, 1965 in Brussels, N. Tavitian was formerly the director for Europe of the international Armenian organization AGBU until 2020 and a local Councillor for the Green Party in the Flemish city of Zaventem until 2019. Tavitian has campaigned on a range of local, European and global issues, including climate change, transparency and public participation, human rights and peace. He has been actively involved in Turkish-Armenian engagement, in engagement with the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh in the Caucasus, as well as for the rights of indigenous peoples around the world.
