World War 3[edit]

World War 3 is an open ended part of the story where the player chooses their faction and character and trys to take all three Capitals or twenty-eight battlefields.

The campaign it self plays much like Prelude to War but the player can choose to update their chosen battalian with new more poweful guns and better accuracy; this makes the players rank increase however it must be stated that this does nothing for the player themselves. The player chooses which battlefield to try and take or defend from the possible areas, other battles that the player could have chosen will be fought by AI, and the player may gain or lose these battlefields as he/she can not alter the outcome. Once the battles have ended the player recevies a sum up of the battle which shows the losses, survivors and promotions as well as other things such as command rating and funds acquired (which are used to update the battalion).

When the war has ended the winning faction takes control of the world and a special scene is shown, which shows the winning faction's flag and troops parading with the voice of the faction's General talking about their victory and what will happen in the future; depending on wheather it is America, Europe or Russia who are the winning side, the cut scene is different due to different speeches by Generals and different reasons for starting the war.

The colour of Mars[edit]

However the actually colour of Mars is closer to butterscotch, the redness seen is actually just dust in the planets atmosphere; considering this NASA's Spirit rover has taken pictures of greenish-brown, mud-coloured landscape with blue-grey rocks and patches of light red coloured sand [1].

Mercenaries (Resident Evil)[edit]

The Mercenaries is a mini game that is featured in four of the Resident Evil games to date; Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, Resident Evil: Code Veronica, Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5. Earlier Resident Evil games featured the mini game under different names, such as Battle Game, which featured fewer playable characters available to play and lacked the volume of bonus game content which could be unlocked from Resident Evil 3 onwards.[1]

Gameplay[edit]

In each version of The Mercenaries players choose a character from the game's roster and attempt to complete the mini game or stages of it, depenending on which version is being played this can involve travelling to the end of an area, defeating a set amount of enemies or gaining points by killing the enemies present; the player also has a set amount of ammunition but additional ammo can be picked up from defeted enemies or smashed creates. Time limits are always present, completing the challenge faster awards more points or currency, which is used in later games to unlock additional game content; killing mini bosses and getting combos results in higher point counts; additional time can be gained by pickng up or braking timers, as well as being able to pick up special combo timers which increse the points gained. However in Resident Evil 4 the points collected result in 'stars' corrosponding to the players skill, if four stars and/or five stars are obtained additional content is unlocked such as new characeters or weapons; this is the same as Resident Evil 5, with the exception of the 'stars' bein replaced with letter ranks, lowst is C and highest is S. Characters can be unlocked by completing levels with high ranks.

Resident Evil 3[edit]

Mini bosses[edit]

Each version of "Mercenaries" has a selection of mini bosses, mainly consisting of tougher characters within the actual games themselves. One boss is used per level, however they often respawn or may appear as more then one of themselves if left long enough undefeated; some bosses appear as two entities not just one.

Usable Characters[edit]

In each game several different characters are avalible for use, they are mostly involved in the games but there are exceptions. All the characters have different weapons and in all of the games the characters start with one First Aid Spray unless specified.

Resident Evil: Code Veronica[edit]

Mini bosses[edit]

Usable characters[edit]

  • Claire Redfield - The first half of the games main protagonist.
  • Claire Redfield special suit -
  • Chris Redfield - The second part of the games main protagonist.
  • Steve - The games main supporting protagonist.
  • Albert Wesker - The games supporting antagonist, this is one of the only Resident Evil games Wesker was not the main protagonist.

Resident Evil 4[edit]

Mini Bosses[edit]

  • The Village - In this level two women called the 'Bella sisters' appear wielding chainsaws which kill with one hit. They are able to climb ladders and can attack the player separately.
  • The Castle - In this level a 'Garrador' appears. It's a creature wielding two long claws on the back of his hands. He is blind and can only hear the player. He can only be killed by shooting it in the weakspot located in the back or hitting it with Krausers 'knify' arm. He cannot climb any ladder and will wander randomly if he can not hear the player. In the final room of the castle a toughter version encased in armor appears.
  • The Military Base - In this level a large minigun wielding man called 'J.J.' appears. He can shoot wildly at the player if he can see them and can jump up any ladder rather than climbing it.
  • Water World - In this level a large man called 'Mr Salvador' appears, wielding a duel bladed chainsaw. Like the other chainsaws this can kill in one hit but, very rarely, may only leave the player badly damaged; Mr Salvador resembles the smaller 'Dr Salvador' from the main game. Unlike the other chainsaw wielders he does not stop swinging the chainsaw, making it harder to dodge then the others, Like 'J.J.' he can jump up any ladder. This is the final stage and not based on any area of the game like the previous levels are.

Usable characters[edit]

In each game several different characters are avalible for use, they are mostly involved in the games but there are exceptions. All the characters have different weapons but all of them carry grenades with the exception of Resident Evil 3 but in all of the games the characters start with one First Aid Spray unless specified.

  • Leon S Kennedy - The games main protagonist. Leon carries a 'Blacktail' handgun and a 'Riot Gun' shotgun. Leon wears his standard combat shirt during Mercenaries, he is already unlocked at the beginning.
  • Ada Wong - One of the games supporting protagonists, with connections to Leon in her past. Ada carries a handgun, sub-machinegun and a sniper rifle.
  • Jack Krauser - One of the games supporting antagonists. Krauser only carries a Bow which can kills almost every enemy in one shot. However he also has a special ability of transforming his right arm in to a giant 'claw', which then allows him to charge forward killing every thing withing a few meters in front of him before his arm transforms back to normal. This ability can only be used a few times as it has to recharge, when it has finished the screen flashes red and his arm begins to glow the same color. It must also be noted that this ability is able to be used from the beginning of the game.
  • HUNK - HUNK does not appear in the main game of Resident Evil 4. HUNK only carries a customized sub-machinegun. He has can utilise a one-hit-kill move, when the enemy is staggered he will run up to them and break their neck from behind.
  • Albert Wesker - Wesker does not appear in the main game but is referenced to and can be seen in both of Ada's sub missions. Wesker carries a handgun, sniper rifle and a magnum.

Resident Evil 5[edit]

Resident Evil 5's mercenaries mode can b played in a cooperative form.

Mini Bosses[edit]

  • Public Assembly - This is the area in the main game where the player first meets The Executioner. The player has to deal with more than one 'Executioner' during this level.
  • The Mines - Is The Mine area seen in the main game, though there is lighting so the tunnels can be navigated. The player has to deal with 'Reapers' during this level.
  • Village - Resembles the Tribal village seen in the main game. The player has to deal with 'Giant Majinis' during this level.
  • Ancient Ruins - Resembles the ruins seen in the main game. The player has to deal with 'Giant Majinis' during this level.
  • Experimental Facility - Resembles (does it resemble anything?). The player has to deal with swarms of 'Lickers' and Majinis with RPGs during this level.
  • Missile Area - In this area the player has to deal with 'Gatling Gun Majinis'. They are similar to the J.Js from Resident Evil 4.
  • Ship Deck - Is the Ship Deck area seen in chapter 5 .The player has to deal with two 'Chainsaw Majini' at the same time, upon killing them more spawn.
  • Prison - The final stage which is not based on any area seen in the game, though it looks very similar to the volcano at the end of the game. The player has to fight the usual Executioner bosses but there are also Red Executioner which are much faster.

Usable characters[edit]

In each game several different characters are avalible for use, they are mostly involved in the games but there are exceptions. All the characters have different weapons but all of them carry grenades with the exception of Resident Evil 3 but in all of the games the characters start with one First Aid Spray unless specified.

  • Chris Redfield (BSAA) - The games main protagonist in his BSAA outfit. Chris carries a M92F Handgun and an Ithaca M37 Shotgun. He is unlocked at the beginning.
