This article gives background to the people who were involved in Channing Moss’s life. Since Channing Moss went to my high school, and since he does not have a Wikipedia article, I figured he would be the perfect person to write on. Within this article is the different servicemen who operated on him and where they are now. It also tells about what Channing Moss is currently up to now. [1]

Some information that I know:
- Channing Moss was a soldier in Iraq who got hit with an RPG.
- This RPG did not go off, therefore, it was stuck in his side.
- After laying on the side of the road, his fellow soldiers took him to try to save his life.
- The doctors operated on him even with the RPG still stuck in his side.
- The doctors operated on him instead of leaving him to die.
- The doctors were able to remove the still intact RPG.
- Channing Moss was able to walk again soon.
- He received the purple heart for surviving the accident.
- Channing Moss went to West Hall High School.
- There is currently a gymnasium named after him at West Hall High School.

Private Channing Moss was a U.S. Army soldier whose unit was attacked on March 16th 2006 in eastern Afghanistan and an unexploded rocket-propelled grenade lodged in his side. The actions of his comrades and the medical personnel who evacuated and treated him were chronicled by media outlets as extra-ordinary.
Moss was 23 years old, serving in Paktika Province, eastern Afghanistan on on that day the Humvee he and his fellow troops were riding in were attacked with rocket-propelled grenades (Reiss). While several of his fellow troops died, he survived with a one of the RPG’s lodged in the side of body.
Biography[edit]
Channing Moss went to West Hall High School (Stanford) and soon after he graduated, he started a life with his wife Lorena Moss and his daughter Yuliana. He then went into the United States Army to serve in the war in Afghanistan. While in war, he was shot with a rocket-propelled grenade that stuck out of his side. When they were driving in Humvees, 5 in total, Moss’s and several others were attacked with RPGs. Several soldiers died that day but Moss came out of the accident with and RPG sticking out of his side. Although he should have died, instead he laid on the ground while several soldiers came to his assistance. When they realized the RPG had not exploded, the soldiers had a choice as to helping him or leaving him to die. They decided to get him the help he need in order to try to save his life, putting every single one of their lives in danger. The names of these soldiers are Jared Angell, Dan Brown, Billy Mariani, Kevin Kirk, John Oh, Eric Wynn, and Medevac Crew based in Salerno, Afghanistan (PAPARELLA and LAFAILLE). Every individual helped Moss to survive that day. He ended up surviving, but had a shattered pelvis. He underwent major physical therapy in order to get back to walking. He was then awarded the Purple Heart for what he went through. After all this, he now is back living in Georgia with his wife, daughter, and new born Ariana. Also, he is well enough to attend college in Georgia which is what he is currently doing now (Mail Online).
