Hon. Barrister Mrs. Loveth Ofoegbu

Biography

Hon. Barrister Mrs. Loveth N. Ofoegbu started her education from Uturu Community School, Agunta Aro, Uturu and completed her primary education at Uturu Primary School, Umumara Uturu, Abia State.

She enrolled her secondary education at Girls' Secondary School, Acha, while her father, Chief Anthony Udueze, was the Vice Principal of the school. She later moved to Uturu Secondary School (accompanying her father who was transferred to the school) where she got her West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in flying colors.

She immediately gained admission at Abia State University (ABSU), Uturu to study Sociology, which she did for one (1) session. But due to her love for the legal profession, she re-took Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations the following year while at Abia State University (ABSU), Uturu and was admitted to read law.

She graduated from the Faculty of Law, Abia State University, Uturu and proceeded to the Nigerian Law School, Enugu Campus and was called to the bar in 2007.

Having been keenly following the footsteps of her father in politics for some time, providence shone on her the same year and she was appointed the Honourable Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Abia State in the terminal months of Chief Dr. Orji Uzo Kalu's administration as the Executive Governor of Abia State.

That appointment gave her the privilege of being a member of Abia State Executive Council, the highest ruling body of the state, during the prosecution of the campaign that brought in the next Executive Governor of Abia State, Chief Theodore Ahamefula Orji into power for his first tenure.

Due to her excellent records in government and participation in the political campaigns, the then incoming Governor, Chief Theodore Ahamefula Orji appointed her as a Commissioner in the Local Government Service Commission in October, 2007. This position, which had a statutory tenure, gave her the opportunity of working with the government of His Excellency, Chief Theodore Ahamefula Orji throughout his first tenure.

She carried out her duties diligently and fairly to all concerned. Her hallmark is to attend to everybody with a smile. She is highly loved and admired by the local government staff of Abia State where she, in association with her colleagues, are in charge of employment, promotion, discipline and welfare of all local government staff of Abia State. An enormous task indeed!

At the dusk of the first tenure of Chief Theodore Ahamefula Orji's administration, the State Executive Council and all boards and parastatals, including the Local Government Service Commission, were dissolved.

However, due to her unalloyed loyalty to the government in power and her diligence in carrying out any duties that are entrusted into her hands, Hon. Barrister Mrs. Loveth N. Ofoegbu was re-appointed as a Commissioner in the Local Government Service Commission in October, 2011 for another statutory period of five (5) years.

Before the expiration of her second tenure as a Commissioner in the Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Barrister Mrs. Loveth N. Ofoegbu was appointed by the current Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu (PhD) as the Chairman of the newly created Board of Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA), the first person to hold the position.

Apart from her primary functions in government, Hon. Barrister Mrs. Loveth N. Ofoegbu has been found worthy by Abia State Government to serve in various ad-hoc committees which include:

- Abia State Electoral Reform Committee - Abia State Civil Service Reform Committee - Abia State PDP Screening Committee for 2016 Local Government Election

Hon. Barrister Mrs. Loveth N. Ofoegbu knows the importance of updating her knowledge regularly both in her legal profession and otherwise. She has attended several courses and conferences, which include:

Hon. Barrister Mrs. Loveth N. Ofoegbu is also a member of several professional associations, which include:

Hon. Barrister Mrs. Loveth N. Ofoegbu is happily married to Chief Brendan Uche Ofoegbu and they are blessed with three (3) promising children - two (2) girls and one (1) boy.

As a confirmation of communal appreciation of her philanthropic gestures and community services, Hon. Barrister Mrs. Loveth N. Ofoegbu has been confered with the following chieftaincy titles and awards, which include:

Hon. Barrister Mrs. Loveth N. Ofoegbu is a devout Christian and a practising catholic, who is touched by the suffering of the less privileged, especially widows and orphans. This led her to set up a Foundation for the less privileged called "Nonye Precious Life Foundation" (NOPREL Foundation).

Her devotion to helping the needy and commitment to spiritual matters has led her to being awarded, at a very tender age, the prestigious title of "Ezinne" by the Assumption Parish, Ukwunwangwu Uturu, a position that was hitherto reserved for the aged and committed Catholic mothers.

Barrister Loveth Ofoegbu believes that her successes so far in life are as a result of the mercies of God upon her life and not necessarily a result of hard work, though she puts her best in everything that she does.
