"I am a human being, not a computer, even "Watson". I chose the handle NotURmonkey, first because I am not anybody's monkey, and if you want me to be one, you'd better try to convince me first ! and second, because since I do exist, I have to obey the rules of this esteemed community, and post something, anything, just to prove that I exist. I therefore chose to post the whole sequence of this silly exchange of guarded suspicions, as if I was a terrorist, or (worse) a computer ! Try to get a computer, by the way, to come up with these remarks. I'll find you employment in no time ! The only thing to post to this page, that I could think of, is just that exchange of messages. Why ? Because it is the truth (it happened, sadly, but it did) and therefore no one could possibly be censored for stating the truth. Or else you guys have a really weird version of the First Amendment ! I'll leave you with the wise word of Descartes : "Cogito, ergo sum" (I think, therefore I am). Please unlock whatever needs to be unlocked, I give up. I will remain very silent for a long time, I think. Bye."

Start of the dialogue : Request reason: I chose handle "notURmonkey" to register with Wikipedia yesterday. In order to test whether my editing was ok with 'the rules', I tried editing something innocuous (not dangerous to the community, which I intended to respect), so I placed a "regret" in the attendance list for the NYC Wiknic. Apparently, it was ok, and the page once redisplayed showed my response. (I had appropriately placed the ignature+timestamp). Later, while browsing around, I found out I was blocked. Furthermore, as the unblocking procedure mentioned to use the "talk" feature, I discovered that was also blocked. I understand the system has to be protected, but isn't that a bit puzzling for a newbie with the best of intentions ? Please help. notURmonkey NotURmonkey (talk) 10:32, 25 June 2011 (UTC)

reply:

   You were blocked for "block evasion" i.e., the allegation is that you are a blocked user who created this new account to get around a block on another one (see also Wikipedia:Sock puppetry). I do wish the block log notice contained a more specific description of why you were blocked, or a notice was posted here explaining why, such as mentioning a sockpuppet investigation, or the name of the other account it is alleged you were blocked under, but I can determine one thing from your two edits. In your edit summary when you posted the above unblock template, you wrote "Got help from 'xeno', thanks xeno". This indicates to me that you have indeed been editing under another account or at least as an IP, since you are referring to specific help, by a specific user, when your current account has only one edit other than this unblock, and Xeno had no interaction with that other edit.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 12:01, 25 June 2011 (UTC)

second request reason, reply to Fuhghettaboutit : Xeno is one of your guys on the English Arbitration Committee, who responded to my e-mail requesting unblock, because I didn't know how to resolve the problem. He advised me to post the first  :: unblock | reason= text-of-reason + signature which I did & you can read here. Apparently, that was the only method to come out of this silly stuff. His e-mail address is : xenowiki@gmail.com, so why don't you check with him. Gosh, you guys are really paranoid! I am a newcomer, and I have absolutely nothing to do with any previous account. Simply, I am a scientist who is working on a white paper that I intend to publish on the topics of cosmology & astrophysics, in the annals of the Max Planck Solar Research Institute. Once my research is completed, I may include my paper into Wikipedia. But if this is the treatment I get from the reception committees, harsher than even the Max Planck SRI, I may just have to pass... --NotURmonkey (talk) 13:43, 25 June 2011 (UTC) }}

reply, with finally a resolution : Accept reason: I have spoken with the blocking admin who has given his go ahead and am unblocking you. I am placing a garish welcome template below with a lot of useful information. Cheers.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 14:57, 25 June 2011 (UTC) + Hello, NotURmonkey and Welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions to this free encyclopedia. If you decide that you need help, check out Getting Help below, ask me on my talk page, or place (note of NotURmonkey : here my nice helper was giving me the 'helpme' template, which the program told me to remove as inappropriate, ok, confusing but I'll comply with the cogs and insert this parenthesis instead) on your talk page and ask your question there. Please remember to sign your name on talk pages by using four tildes (NotURmonkey (talk) 04:16, 2 July 2011 (UTC)) or by clicking Insert-signature.png if shown; this will automatically produce your username and the date. Also, please do your best to always fill in the edit summary field with your edits. Below are some useful links to facilitate your involvement. Happy editing! Final concluding (hopefully) message from me, NotURmonkey : OK guys, thanks. I noticed my NotURmonkey account was still blocked. Reason given : I didn't have a page, therefore I must not exist ! Well, sorry, I didn't imagine that your rules would find me guilty for 'not' doing something. I thought the law of this land was based on the basic principle that "one could not be guilty of nothing", and that "one is either guilty of something, or 'not guilty' at all". I am not a lawyer, but I found out that I understood the constitution a lot better than many in this great country, even though I was invited here, and am a citizen only by naturalization. I guess I stand a better chance to be accepted out of my intelligence than out of my birth. To reassure everyone that I am not spook, as everyone is so afraid of, I posted the following introduction to my page:

"I am a human being, not a computer, even "Watson". I chose the handle NotURmonkey, first because I am not anybody's monkey, and if you want me to be one, you'd better try to convince me first ! and second, because since I do exist, I have to obey the rules of this esteemed community, and post something, anything, just to prove that I exist.
