The Mambilla Region and the Bantu Expansion

The 60,000 sq. km Mambilla region straddling the Nigeria-Cameroon frontier in west-central Africa is inhabited by various Mambilloid-speaking Bantu descendants who have remained in the area for upwards of 4 millennia (Zeitlyn & Connell, 2003, "Ethnogenesis and Fractal History on an African Frontier ..."). They represent some of the Bantu who stayed home after the great Bantu split and expansion across central, eastern and southern Africa.
