OMREN is an non-profit organization that develops, implements and maintains the national research and education network (NREN) of Oman.
OMREN as a network is a common computer network reserved for higher education and research in OMAN. Staff and students of connected organizations can connect and collaborate through OMREN with other internet users.
OMREN members can exchange data with special features in terms of speed, capacity and confidentiality to facilitate the interconnection of entities spreads across the country.
Besides facilitating e-communication among researchers, students and teachers, this network will help in the training of specialized Omani cadres in the field of network management, establishing virtual research and scientific societies, and enriching society with researches and publications. [1]

OMREN was founded in 2016, it started supplying the latest internet services in 2017.
The network at 2018 connecting 23 educational institutions in Oman to international research and education networks in different countries. Such connection provides quick and easy access to information, data and applications.[2]
Services[edit]
OMREN currently provides services on all network layers, including authentication services, such as eduroam and services for security, online collaboration and streaming media.
