Omer El-Hamdoon, was born in Mosul, Iraq in 1974. He came to live in the United Kingdom in 1978; and has remained in the United Kingdom until now.

In 1998, Omer El-Hamdoon completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from the University of Sheffield.

He then went on to study Islamic Studies via correspondence from the European Institute of Human Sciences based in Chateau Chinon, France. This was completed in 2003.

In 2007, he completed a Master of Medical Sciences in Restorative Dentistry. And not long after, completed the diploma for becoming a Member of the Faculty of Dental Surgery, from the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Omer was the President of University of Sheffield Islamic Circle Society for four years. He held the post of chairman of the Muslim Welfare House of Sheffield. Currently, he is the National President of the Muslim Association of Britain, a role he has held since May 2011.

Other posts he holds are: A trustee of MINAB (Mosques and Imams’ National Advisory Board).

He used to be an Assistant General Secretary for the Muslim Council of Britain.
