History
[edit]Formation & "$2 Pistol" (2009-2011)
[edit]With roots in the foothills of Appalachia, Chad Dickerson was raised in Sandy Hook, Kentucky, the seat of Elliott County and home of country music legend Keith Whitley. During his time at Morehead State University he was one five members of the regionally popular band Thirty-Seven, with future Fifth on the Floor member Kevin Hogle. The band relocated to New Orleans while Dickerson stayed behind. Shortly after band member and close friend, Ryan Hart, passed away at the age of 25. This devastated Dickerson to the point that he didn't pick up a guitar for two years, and wouldn't perform again live for almost a decade.
In the Summer of 2009, after a few attempts at college and a handful of day jobs, Dickerson began holding jam sessions once a week in the back of a bar on the North side of Lexington. It was during that time he would eventually meet bassist/cellist Seth Murphy, and University of Kentucky scientist/drummer Jonathan England. In September of the same year the trio would record the self-released debut $2 Pistol at TME Studios in Indiana over the course of three days.
