Bloomberg Tradebook, LLC., an affiliate of Bloomberg L.P., is an electronic agency brokerage for equity, futures, options and foreign exchange trades.[1] Its "buyside" services include access to trading algorithms, analytics and marketing insights, while its "sellside" services include connection to electronic trading networks and global trading capabilities.[2] Bloomberg Tradebook was founded in 1996.[1]

Buyside services[edit]

In 2010, Bloomberg Tradebook developed B-Dark, an algorithm to provide information to traders about where their order were being filled, even for trades occurring in private electronic transaction networks, or dark pools.[3] In 2011, the firm developed an algorithm designed to balance portfolios and shift allocations from one sector to another to match investment strategies. The algorithm reduced the risk and expense of trades by automatically making adjustments to reflect changes in currency prices and tracking exposures to dark pools.[4]

Sellside services[edit]

Led by Chief Executive Officer and President Ray Tierney, Bloomberg Tradebook expanded the services it offered to brokerages in March 2011. These changes included providing trading solutions like low latency market access, cross-asset algorithms and global portfolio trading capabilities.[2]
