Worcestershire is a county in the West Midlands of England. Depending on the context it could refer to the non-metropolitan county used for administrative purposes, the ceremonial county used for lieutenancy or the traditional county.

Administrative[edit]

An administrative county of Worcester was formed on 1 April 1889 and was abolished on 1 April 1974. A non-metropolitan county was created on 1 April 1998 and is governed by Worcestershire County Council.

A Worcestershire ceremonial county was created on 1 April 1997 for the purposes of lieutenancy.

Worcestershire or the County of Worcester is one of the historic counties of England. It is bounded to the north by Shropshire and Staffordshire, to the east by Warwickshire, to the south by Gloucestershire, and to the west by Herefordshire.
